We want you to learn enough about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Levelset. Some examples of what we are going to cover include:
What does it mean to be an ally?
What are microaggressions and can we recognize where we have given and received them?
What does it mean to be an anti-racist business?
What is inclusive language and how does it connect to our identity and culture?
At the beginning of February we announced our Celebrate Black Authors workflow in #readers-curiosity. We made a $10 donation to one of two Black-led non-profit organizations (Son of a Saint in New Orleans, and Six Square in Austin) each time you read a book by a Black author and use the workflow in February. We raised over $200 in 5 weeks! Check out our Celebrate Black Authors book submissions for more recommendations.
In our DEI team kick-off, we invited Conscious Roots to hold a session on the importance of Inclusive Language.
They also introduced us to their Field Guide (we recommend you make a copy of this document and fill it out while watching and contemplating the session).
In our second session on the importance of Inclusive Language, Conscious Roots discussed several topics including deleting Indigenous and ableist words to delete from our vocabulary.
