Some things we will do in Science class include...
Design and implement labs using the principles of the Scientific Method
Engage in a variety of online simulations to apply Scientific principals to every-day life
Analyze our traits through multiple generations to discover our Ancestors' dominant and recessive traits
Use mathematical equations to calculate the momentum of race cars
Engage in a project that tracks the population of Finches in the Galapagos Islands
Measure mass of objects using triple-beam balances
Measure volume of objects using graduated cylinders
Learn about the principals of force by creating balloon rockets
And much more!
In 8th Grade Science there are four modules:
How does the universe affect me?
How do living things change over time?
How do forces impact me?
What action will you take on sustainability?
In 8th grade science we strive to answer these questions and many more! Using the IQWST inquiry-based curriculum, your scholar will dive into topics related to the creation of the universe, how living things have changed over time, how forces impact our everyday lives, and how we can take action to develop a more sustainable future. Science is not a sit in your seat type of class! We aim to explore these topics with a hands-on approach and through the lens of experimental design, where students can ask questions, perform experiments, analyze data, and draw conclusions about the world around them. Additionally, we ask scholars to communicate their findings by presenting their work in a multitude of ways that showcase their passions and talents. We want our Young Scholars to become Young Scientists!
