Purpose: Create a multiple-sided, lidded box / house out of slabs. Combine two ideas from a mind mapping exercise to tie together all parts of the piece.
Reflection:
When it came to my box I combined the ideas of animals and nature and how animals interact specifically Cats and Mice. To bring your eyes around the box I had different stages of the cat chasing the mouse and little mice footprints to follow. To provide more texture and tying in the theme more I added cat scratches for added texture. And to keep the flow of designs on the top the handle is a small mouse toy and the feet on the box have cat paws drawn and painted on the bottom!
I used a secondary color scheme. I chose this because it provided both warm and cool colors and allowed me to use darker and more contrasting colors. I believe it worked out well though color schemes can be incredibly difficult with glaze cause in alot of cases you have no clue how the glaze will look in the end!
To insure a strong well though out box structure, along every seam I added a small snake of clay to further seal them together and I added a ridge to the lid so it doesn't slip off. I also med sure to double check the lid fits properly with little wobble. If I could go back though I would definitely make things more level so everything really sat perfectly with one another.
