Do you need kitchen skills? Food and Nutrition 1 covers all the basic information you will need to become a great cook. Explore the science of cooking and nutrition in a fun and delicious atmosphere! This course will help you understand the principles of nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Students will have hands-on learning experience, cooking in groups while learning basic food preparation of pasta, rice, breads, fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and more! Students may also earn/receive a food handlers permit.

Looking for a career option or just an amazing life skill, this is the class for you. This class will highlight food safety and sanitation, careers, introduce knife skills and cooking techniques, and basic culinary skills related to stocks, sauces, and yeast breads. This is one of a few classes where you eat your class work!

Looking for more in-depth culinary skills? Come check out this class. Learn to keep food safety, refine your knife skills, and why math is part of cooking. We will deep dive into food history and trends, cooking techniques, flavors, stocks, soups, sauces, employment skills, and bakery production. Students will also have the opportunity to use a Traeger smoker, participate in competitions (earning money for college), chopped challenges, field trips, guest speakers and much more!
