Description

Do you need kitchen skills? Food and Nutrition 1 covers all the basic information you will need to become a great cook. Explore the science of cooking and nutrition in a fun and delicious atmosphere! This course will help you understand the principles of nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Students will have hands-on learning experience, cooking in groups while learning basic food preparation of pasta, rice, breads, fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and more! Students may also earn/receive a food handlers permit.

Description

Loved Foods 1? Why not take another semester of fun cooking labs! This course prepares students to understand principles of food preparation, safety, sanitation, management & consumerism used in the home & food industry. Students will experience multiple food labs utilizing various cooking methods. Students will learn/practice various knife cuts, learn about the five mother sauces, and yeast breads. Students may also earn/receive a food handlers permit.

Description

Loved previous cooking classes? Are you a pro now? In this course students are trained for career opportunities in the hospitality/culinary arts industry. Students learn communication skills, safety and sanitation, food preparation, meal planning, catering, and other various skills related to business operations. This is a year long course that allows students hands-on experience and a look into the professional cooking industry. Students will also participate in picking their own recipes, culinary competitions, field trips, guest speakers and more. Students will have the opportunity to earn scholarships for college!

Description

Love to bake but not cook or do you just have a sweet tooth? Practice your basic skills that you have learned in previous cooking classes to create sweet and savory masterpieces. Students will learn about yeast breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, fillings, frostings and much more. Learn how to use a scale, measure ingredients, and plate like a pro while picking your own recipes that you want to make.
