Learn the concepts of accounting for business & personal use like analyzing transactions, making decisions, working with numbers, finding patters and trends, cash within ANY industry or as an entrepreneur by learning accounting skills. Computers and accounting software will be used for simulations.
Students will develop skills beginning with an understanding of the basic elements and concepts of double-entry accounting systems related to service businesses organized as a sole proprietorship. Skills include understanding the accounting equation, analyzing business transactions, entering transactions in journals, posting to ledgers, compiling end-of-period financial statements, preparing closing entries, and managing cash.

Discover how law impacts you as a consumer and employee. Learn how law relates to all. This class explores Business and Personal Law areas including contracts, employment law, cyber security and court proceedings (includes conducting mock trials).
Students will gain an understanding of the law as it relates to them currently and the implications of the law in their future lives as well as the lives of their family and friends. They will also work to gain an understanding of basic legal vocabulary. The course will include an understanding of the court system at the local, state, and national level. Students will gain an understanding of contract law, their rights and responsibilities as citizens, utilization of financial transactions, employment and agency relationships, and the understanding of the regulations governing different types of business organizations.

In this beginning marketing course, explore promoting and selling the products of airlines, international travel, ground transportation, cruising, hotel and lodging, restaurants, and tours. Students will learn the importance of hospitality and tourism's impact on the economy and explore Utah's Mighty Five National Parks. Course work will focus more on hands-on projects, assignments and assessments such as trip planning, marketing plans and explorations rather than traditional paper tests.
The Hospitality and Tourism course provides the student with an understanding of one of the largest industries in Utah and the world. An introductory course that teaches concepts of entry-level business and marketing functions. The following skill standards will be taught and will prepare students in marketing and business fundamentals, selling, financing, product/service planning, information management, purchasing, distribution, pricing, promotion, risk management, career development, economics, communications, human relations, marketing math, and marketing operations.
Marketing I explores the seven core functions of marketing which include: marketing planning - why target market and industry affects businesses; marketing information management - why market research is important; pricing - how prices maximize profit and affect the perceived value; product/service management - why products live and die; promotion - how to inform customers about products; channel management - how products reach the final user; and selling - how to convince a customer that a product is the best choice. This course will provide insight into the theory and application of merchandise/service assortment, pricing, promotion mix, location, store layout, and customer service activities necessary for successful retail operations.
