The Peer Leaders are a group of eighth grade students who serve as mentors and role models to Houghton Elementary School and Chocksett Middle School students, as volunteers to Houghton Elementary School and Chocksett Middle School students and teachers, and as ambassadors of the school by helping out in the community, such as at the Sterling Senior Center. These students work effortlessly to make our school community and community at large a happier, calmer, and safer place for all. Examples of activities that they have participated in within the school setting are collecting letters from second grade students to give to veterans on Veterans Day, teaching lessons that focus on the social/emotional realm to fifth grade classes, support specialist teachers at Houghton, being part of a Big Buddy/Little Buddy Program with select Houghton Elementary School students, and helping out during writing and reading times in kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Below are pictures of current and past Peer Leaders volunteering in the community.
