Welcome to Mrs. Allison's Page!
Hello! My name is Danae Allison and I am currently the school counselor at Chocksett Middle School. I am currently in my seventeenth year of working as an educator and I have enjoyed every minute of it! I worked as a school psychologist at Houghton Elementary School for the first fifteen years of my career and at both Houghton Elementary School and Chocksett Middle School during my sixteenth year. I am incredibly lucky to work with such a wonderful and giving staff as well as amazing, bright, and kind-hearted students. I especially love watching the students grow not only physically but also mentally, emotionally, behaviorally, and socially throughout the school year and throughout their school career. Although I haven't mastered all of the students' names, I am lucky enough to know almost all of the students by face and try my best to learn more and more names each and every day. I am delighted to walk down the hallway and have students recognize me and accept me as part of the group of respected, welcomed, and safe adults at Houghton Elementary and Chocksett Middle Schools.
Over the course of the school year, I play a number of different roles when working with students, staff, and parents. My three main responsibilities as a school counselor are counseling students in need, teaching lessons in the classroom about different topics, and providing behavioral support to students. In each of these roles, I work closely with the staff and parents in order to ensure that all children feel safe and comfortable within our school walls. I also work with many different students for a variety of reasons, some of whom I work with on an individual basis and some of whom I work with in small groups.
Feel free to take the time to look through the different sections of my website in order to access different resources and to learn about the lessons taught to all students through my school-wide trainings. I would like to leave you with two of my favorite quotes that describe how I strive to live and what I try to instill in each child that I work with at Chocksett Middle School.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."
~ Marianne Williamson
"...And, let us remember this:
Whatever it is we believe we can do or dream we can do,
we can begin it today.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
So let us be bold in our living and in our loving,
bold in our giving and in our forgiving
So that the world awaited might become more nearly the world attained."
