Happiness boosters are activities, actions, or experiences that bring joy and happiness to most people, both adults and children. There are many different types of happiness boosters. Below are six examples of happiness boosters. Feel free to read through and look at/listen to examples of each one to find out which happiness boosters make you the happiest and which happiness boosters make your children the happiest. Once you discover which boosters work best for you and for your children, do your best to incorporate more of these boosters into your everyday family life. It might even be helpful to have a list available for all family members to see in order to remind each person what works for them when they aren’t feeling happy as well as what they could do to cheer up a family member. Enjoy experiencing the happiness boosters below and hopefully at least a few put a smile on your face!

Start asking yourself What Went Well? (aka. WWW) each night before bed and think of at least three things that went well that day. Challenge your parents/guardians and/or siblings to do the same! Bonus: Start a WWW journal and write all of the things you are grateful for down so you can look back on all of the things you have been grateful for in the past.
Start a gratitude jar in your home where family members can write on slips of paper things that they have been grateful for over the past week, especially things that relate to other family members. Read these slips of paper as a family at the end of each week. Bonus: Have a family celebration when the jar in completely full (e.g. dance party, game night, etc.).
