Glossary of Teaching Terms and Abbreviations (Please note: not all of these terms are used consistently across every school within WMAT).
This glossary has been created to support all staff working across the Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT), including teachers, support staff, and those in leadership or administrative roles.
It brings together a wide range of terms and abbreviations that are commonly used in education. These cover areas such as curriculum, assessment, safeguarding, special educational needs, behaviour, and school leadership. While many of these terms are used regularly within WMAT schools, some may be more relevant to specific roles, settings, or external agencies.
We recognise that language and terminology can vary between schools, so this resource is intended to support shared understanding, particularly for those who are new to the profession, joining WMAT from other schools, or working across multiple sites.
