There are times when staff are unable to attend their lessons with you. This might be because:
You can expect the following, where possible:
One week’s notice of any planned absence by a teacher.
Notice of unplanned absence by 8.00am on the morning of your lesson.
Wherever possible, an alternative member of staff will be on hand to take a register and distribute the work that you are to complete in this time. Your usual classroom will be available for you to work in (with the exception of science laboratories). It is our expectation that, as adults, you will be able to work without a member of staff supervising you on these rare occasions.
When you are notified of a staff absence, you will always receive an email communicating information about:
What work you are required to complete and how it should be submitted.
Whether you are expected to attend the lesson at the usual time for a member of staff to register you or if you are permitted to work remotely, in which case the register will be populated with a D (Distance Learning).
If you have any concerns about a staff absence, the Head of Department will have a copy of the work to be completed and can be contacted by email. Please see the Key College Contacts section for current Head of Department information for your campus.
Should you be unable to contact the above you may also seek clarification from the Assistant Principal, Curriculum & Quality (Sixth Form) for your campus whose information is also available on the Key College Contacts page.
