See below for information about what's involved in being in the SUE, timeline and campaign rules. Information about candidates, campaigns and voting results for the 2025/26 academic year will be posted on the Strode's Candidates and Windsor Candidates pages during June 2025.
Be the leader of the SU at the College and supporting the other SU Officers in their roles.
Be the prime representative of the SU, liaising with the College and other bodies over any matters affecting students.
Meet regularly with designated College staff and students to plan and review Students’ Union activity
Involve as many students as possible in the SU and publicise its activities.
Speaking at College events, such as reporting on current activities at the Student Conferences and College Open Evenings.
Support the President in their duties
Lead in promoting SU activities via social media
Meet with College staff to plan and review SU activities and take minutes in SU meetings
Promote all meetings of the Executive Committee and Student Conference by means of posters and emails.
Report on activities and SU budget to the Executive Committee and Student Conference
Student Governors share in the collective responsibility of the Governing Body, on an equal footing with all other Governors.
They will participate in all discussions, except where these relate to current or prospective College staff or individual students.
There will be some preparation and reading ahead of meetings around some of the content you will be discussing.
Raise any non-confidential matters to the Executive Committee and Student Conference that have a direct impact on students.
Take a student lead on representation and strategy.
Meet regularly with the designated support staff members to plan and prepare for involvement in Governing Body meetings.
Depending upon the post you apply for this may vary widely. What you will do however is to represent the views of the whole student body, on a wide range of issues affecting College students. You will also: attend college events; attend student conferences; attend student governor meetings; provide feedback to Senior College Managers.

A number of further Non-Portfolio Officers open to all students will be elected during to Autumn term
All students are automatically members of the Student Union, so can stand for election. For the current round of elections you must be enrolled onto a course that will start or continue into the 2025/26 academic year, maintain a good student record and agree to the use of your photos on promotional material
You’ll make a real difference at the college and learn more about democracy and how to contribute to society
You’ll gain new skills and build your confidence
Make new friends - you will build strong bonds with your fellow SUE members
Learn how to take the lead on certain projects/events as well as support other SUE members in their roles
You’ll have guidance and support available from the Student Engagement Team
You’ll gain essential experience in taking part in formal meetings and feeding back student opinions to key senior college managers
We’ll give you a professional reference
It will look impressive on your CV or UCAS form
This Schedule outlines the procedures for all candidates for the positions within the Student Union Executive 25/26
Campaign posters are only to be displayed in approved areas e.g. Notice-boards, display boards, windows but not door windows and NOT on painted walls
Candidates or their supporters are not allowed to de-face election posters or in any way disrupt the campaign of other candidates. Also do not put posters over any others
All posters must be approved by Student Services and receive a college stamp
Any breaking of the above rules will result in an immediate disqualification from running for any of the Student Union Executive positions.
Candidates must produce a completed application, stating why students should vote for them. This will include three issues candidates will work on if they are elected – see application form.
Your poster should state who you are, which position you wish to apply for, what you would like to achieve – never promise or say “I will” - and an appropriate/professional picture of yourself. If you need help with the poster please speak to Student Services.
