As we approach this four-day weekend, the Wimberley High School community is busy at work. While it may not feel like a break, I want to express my pride in our students, coaches, and sponsors for their continued success both in the classroom and in various competitions.
Congratulations to the Team Tennis for winning their Bi-District playoff round and competing today for the Area title. The Cross Country team is also competing in their District meet today in Bandera. Meanwhile, Texan Football and Volleyball are doing well in district play.
Despite the many activities happening, I hope you can find some time to relax during the long weekend and get ready for Homecoming week!
Have a great weekend!

STUDENT LIFE & CLUBS

US BANDS HILL COUNTRY REGIONAL RESULTS
The Band participated in the US Bands Hill Country Regional last weekend. While the band did not place in Finals, the scores improved from the previous week in every category except 1. Going into this competition, we had 2 5A’s, 1 6A, and 1 other 4A in our category. While our member numbers are similar, we were mainly against larger schools. We took 2nd in Music Effect, and 2nd in Percussion. If we continue to clean up the spots in our show that were highlighted, the sky’s the limit. Our next 2 competitions are all against other 4A’s. If we are within 4 points of 1st place (a 5A program), then I’d say we’re making major progress. But there is still work to do. I’m excited to see some of these groups again in November, and show them how much we, the Wimberley Texan Band, have improved.
TMEA HIGH SCHOOL REGION CHOIR AUDITIONS RESULTS
TMEA High School Region Choir Auditions were last Saturday and the Wimberley Texan Choir made a great showing!! December Craft and Sawyer Bisett made the choir and will go on toward All State by auditioning at Pre Area Nov 15th
The Region Choir Clinic and Concert is October 24 and 25 at AISD PAC.

FESTA OFFERS NARCAN TRAINING AT WISD
The FESTA program will host two NARCAN training sessions this semester at the WISD Board Room—one for adults and one for teens (ages 14+). All attendees will receive a free Narcan Kit. Narcan, the brand name for naloxone, is a life-saving medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, rapidly restoring normal breathing and consciousness in someone who has overdosed on opioids such as heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, or morphine.
During the Teen session, students will learn that while they cannot self-carry Narcan in school buildings since it is a medication, Narcan is available in the Nurse’s office if needed.
