I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who attended the WHS Open House on Wednesday. The event was well attended, providing a great opportunity for teachers and parents to connect. I understand that both teachers and parents have busy schedules, so I appreciate you making time on a Wednesday night.
It’s hard to believe we are already discussing progress reports. Today marks the end of the first six weeks’ progress report period. Teachers will submit grades by the end of the day on Tuesday, and progress reports will be available in Skyward on Friday, September 5th. If your student is struggling with grades, please encourage them to complete their homework, study for tests, and attend tutorials. It’s important to communicate with teachers frequently to support academic success.
Not that you need a reminder, Monday is the Labor Day holiday, and there will be no school.
Enjoy the long weekend!

ADMIN UPDATES
PLEASE READ: HEALTH SERVICES CONSENT FORM REMINDER
If you haven’t had a chance to complete the Health Services Consent Form for your child, please take a moment to do so here.
All the details are included on the form itself. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school nurse, Heather Kral at heather.kral@wimberleyisd.net.
LUNCH EXPECTATIONS
During lunch, students should remain in one of the designated areas:
Cafeteria
Café
Outside picnic tables
If students need to use the restroom during lunch, they should use the facilities in L-Hall, Hallway 2, or Hallway 3.
These expectations are in place to ensure proper supervision, keep everyone safe, and support our custodial staff in maintaining a clean and welcoming campus.
Thank you for doing your part to help us take care of our school!
REMINDER REGARDING TARDIES
Being on time to class helps set the tone for a successful day of learning. When students arrive late, it not only affects their own progress but also disrupts the class flow. Please help us by encouraging your student to be in their classroom before the bell rings each period.
Students are allowed 2 tardies per six weeks without consequence. Starting with the 3rd tardy, consequences are assigned:
Tardy #3: 30-minute detention
Tardy #4: 2-hour detention
Tardy #5: 4-hour detention
Tardy #6 or more: 1–3 days of ISS
Thank you for your support in helping students develop good habits that lead to success!
ATTENDANCE NUTS AND BOLTS
WHEN YOUR STUDENT IS ABSENT FROM SCHOOL:
Please email the attendance office WHSattendance@wimberleyisd.net letting WHS know your child will be absent. A written form of documentation is required when students are absent. This could be a parent note, doctor’s note, funeral note, or personal reason. We want to have your student accounted for and know that you know where they are.
WHEN YOUR STUDENT ARRIVES LATE TO SCHOOL:
Your student must check at the main office if they arrive late to school. If they are seen by a doctor, please leave the note in the attendance notes box, or send them with a parent note. The student will be issued a pass to class. The student’s tardiness is unexcused without any documentation. We ask the student to always check in so we have a record of their arrival time and can document the reason correctly. Documenting their arrival time could avoid a marked tardy or absence from the teacher. If a student is late 10 minutes or more to class, they are marked absent.
WHEN YOUR STUDENT LEAVES EARLY FROM SCHOOL:
Please come into the office to check out your child. We do not accept call ahead releases. The receptionist will call your student out of class where they will be released to the main office. If you want your student to leave with someone else and they are not on the Skyward emergency contact list, please provide their name and phone number on a permission note to leave via handwritten note before school or email. You will email your request through the SKYWARD PARENT PORTAL by 8AM the date of dismissal to High School Attendance. The person(s) picking up your student will be asked for ID before your student is released. If your student leaves campus without written parent permission and/or following proper check-out procedures, they are considered truant and subject to disciplinary action. If your student drives, they will check out through the front office where they will be issued a pass to the parking lot.
STUDENT DRIVERS:
Student drivers may not leave campus without proper signout procedures. A parent or guardian listed on Skyward will email their request through the SKYWARD PARENT PORTAL by 8AM the date of dismissal to High School Attendance. A pass will be delivered to your student's class and your student will check out through the upstairs assistant principal’s office where they will take that pass to the parking lot. If your student leaves campus without written parent permission and/or following proper check-out procedures, they are considered truant and subject to disciplinary action. If your student is 18 or above, because they are a student with us, they still need to follow the above procedures.
WHEN YOUR STUDENT WILL BE MISSING A FEW DAYS FROM SCHOOL:
Please have your student get an excused absence form from the attendance office. Upon approval, the teachers and Mr. Wilkes will sign off on your trip so your student can make up work for full credit. The teachers will give your student a make-up work option. This form accounts for your student’s attendance but does not prevent your student from attendance recovery time.
Any questions, please reach out to WHS attendance clerk, amy.bock@wimberleyisd.net!

WAYS TO HELP
PEANUT BUTTER BOWL
We are doing the Peanut Butter Bowl again this year for our Varsity football game with Canyon Lake. The Peanut Butter Bowl is set up to help our local food bank. The goal is to raise jars of peanut butter that will be donated directly to our community by Friday, August 29th. If you would rather donate money, you can do so at www.peanutbutterbowl.com (make sure to select Wimberley Texans). Ultimately, we would like to use the first football game of the year to raise funds and give back to both the Wimberley and Canyon Lake communities. #WEALLWIN
