Happy Valentine’s Day weekend! We had a short week, but that means there is a long weekend ahead. I hope you can enjoy time with your loved ones.
Meanwhile, Texan Swim is competing at the State Tournament today, and we are proud of their hard work and dedication. Best of luck to our eight swimmers as they make a splash at State. Additionally, Lady Texan Basketball is gearing up for the playoffs as they prepare for the Bi-District round, and Texan Hoops is wrapping up District with their eye on first place.
This time of year, many of our students are out pursuing their passions in extracurricular events, including athletics, academics, and fine arts. As a result, it is easy to lose focus on their schoolwork. Please encourage your student to attend tutorials and communicate often with their teachers.
Keep up the great work, Texans, and enjoy the long weekend!

ATTENTION JUNIORS - SIGN UP FOR THE SAT SCHOOL DAY

STUDENT PARKING
With warmer weather, we are seeing an increase in students parking in undesignated areas and leaving campus without permission.
Starting this week, students parked in undesignated areas (CTE, Emily Ann, or Ag) will receive a green parking citation ($10 fine), and vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense. Students who leave campus without permission or who do not properly sign out through the front office will receive one day of ISS.
Students with parking fines will not be able to purchase Prom tickets and will be placed on the graduation fines list. Note that students on the fines list are unable to exempt Spring Finals. Parking permits are available in the AP’s office.
Students without permits may park in the band parking lot by the tennis courts without penalty.
WHS BAND COMPETES AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE
The band will have multiple students competing this weekend at Solo and Ensemble. Students who perform and receive a 1st division rating with a Grade 1 Solo or Ensemble will be State Eligible. Stay tuned for results!
EUROPE 2027 - SUMMER TRIP
In collaboration with students from Dripping Springs, we are traveling to Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium on June 21, 2027, for a 12-day trip (including travel). This trip is open to 6th-12th grade. Parents can come as well!
We will be having our 1st informational meeting on Tuesday, February 24th at Dripping Springs HS at 6:30pm, in the Lecture Hall.

SAVE THE DATE: "A NIGHT IN PARIS" JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM
Prom will be at the Venue, 2032 Central Plaza, New Braunfels, TX 78130, on March 7, 2026, from 7:30 PM - 11:00 PM.
Tickets are $50 and will go on sale during both lunches starting March 2nd. Please note: you cannot purchase a prom ticket for yourself or your date if either of you owes class dues or fines. Please see Ms. Cockerham in the front office to confirm whether you have any outstanding fees or fines from before March 2nd. Dues can be paid online using this link.

VFW AUXILIARY ART CONTEST
The National VFW Auxiliary is pleased

Stars' Compete this Saturday
The Texan Stars are competing at Dripping Springs High School this Saturday, February 21st. This is their only competition of the year and they have been putting in some long hours to be ready for it. If you are free and would like to come watch, you can buy tickets here.
WAYS TO HELP
LEO CLUB SERVICE PROJECT: CRISIS BREAD BASKET PANTRY REFRESH
We are supporting the Crisis Bread Basket by clearing out their pantry for essential repairs and painting, then moving everything back into the refreshed space! We need hardworking volunteers to help ensure the food is handled carefully and efficiently.
Location: Crisis Bread Basket Pantry
Attire: Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes (required).
Shift 1: Pantry Move-Out
Date: Thursday, March 19th (Spring Break)
Time: 1:00 PM – Completion (Estimated several hours)
Task: Move all food items out of the pantry to prepare for painting.
Shift 2: Pantry Move-In
Date: Monday, March 23rd (First day back from school)
Arrival Times:
Group A (Early Release): Arrive by 3:00 PM
Group B (Regular Release): Arrive by 4:00 PM
Task: Move all food items back into the newly painted pantry.

COURSE SELECTION PLAN FOR 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
It is that time of year once again, to determine what courses students will take next school year. We want to make sure both parents and students are aware of the process and timeline for student course selection. Below is the timeline and action for registering students who will be in grades 10th - 12th for the 2026 - 27 school year.
Week of February 18th - Students receive course selection sheets in social studies classes.
Week of February 18th - Q & A with the counselors during all lunches.
Monday 2/23 - Friday 3/6
9th, 10th, and 11th graders register with counselors (one-on-one) for next year's classes in their social studies class.
Students should have their completed choice sheets with them and their charged Chromebook to be able to login to their Skyward account and input their choices.
If students are absent on the day counselors visit their class, they will call students in to make selections the week of March 4th.
Students and parents should refer to coursebooks posted on the WHS website under the Counselor tab - also linked below for course offerings and course descriptions.

FASFA APPLICATIONS
SENIORS! FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is open for post-secondary education in 2026-27. The sooner you fill it out the better - the money runs out!!

Course Selection for current 8th-graders (incoming freshman) for 2026-27 will include the following dates:
March 2nd - 8th Grade Parent Night - 6pm at WHS
March 3 - 5 - Q & A for Incoming Freshman Parents/Students - after school at the Danforth Library
March 9 - 11 - Incoming Freshman Registration with WHS Counseling Staff - 8th-grade History Classes
March 12 - Makeup Registration in Danforth Library (during school day)

UPCOMING ACC OPPORTUNITIES
1. Health Sciences Showcase is 2/28/2026 from 10-2 at ACC Eastview. This is a great opportunity for any student considering a health sciences pathway post-high school! Tours and faculty are available to answer any questions, and there are interactive opportunities with students. Visit austincc.edu/healthcareers for more information.

TSI SPRING SIGN-UP 2026
The TSI will be given at WHS during school hours (see flyer below for dates). Students are responsible for all work missed from classes. Students need to communicate ahead of time with their teacher to get their work.
Please fill out the form LINKED HERE to sign-up to take the TSI.
Go by the front office to pay Ms. Vannoy or Ms. Cockerham. The full TSI Test - $20 or $7 per section. Cash, check, or card accepted.
You will receive an email from Mrs.Vannoy prior to the test to confirm and give you the details. There are only 40 seats for each test day. You will be notified if the date is full and you need to reschedule.

FAST FORWARD
FAST Forward is a free, self-paced college readiness program designed to help students feel more confident and prepared as they transition into college. The program focuses on strengthening math and English skills while helping students better understand what to expect academically before starting their coursework. FAST Forward can help students prepare for the TSI exam and may improve their performance. Additionally, some colleges and universities may recognize completion of FAST Forward as an indicator of college readiness.
The program is delivered through EdReady, an online learning platform that adapts to meet students exactly where they are. After completing a short diagnostic, students receive a personalized learning plan that focuses only on the skills they need to strengthen. Students can move at their own pace and complete the program on their own schedule.

Currently, FAST Forward is accepting applications for February, March, and April. Key dates include:

Students may enroll at any point before April 1 and will have until April 30 to complete the course.

Ozona Bank Scholarship - 2 scholarships at $1,000 each. Must apply on WHS scholarship application, which is linked.
WCCC Scholarship - Wimberley Community Civic Club (WCCC). This is a LOCAL scholarship.
HMAC Scholarship Program - The HMAC Scholarship Program is a launchpad for your future in the booming Texas asphalt pavement industry. This is a LOCAL scholarship.
Ken Parmerter Memorial Scholarship - SEMI promotes collaboration to develop future professionals in the semiconductor and microelectronics industries. This is a LOCAL scholarship.
ROBERT MOREMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This is a LOCAL scholarship from the Wimberley Valley Arts & Cultural Alliance. Deadline is April 5
PEC Scholarship - Our 2026 PEC scholarship applications have officially opened! High school seniors, whose parents, or guardians are PEC members in good standing are eligible! Did you know that our scholarship is also open to students planning to attend trade school?
Check out the scholarship page on our website for eligibility information, application guidelines, and the link to apply. Applications close at 11:59pm on 2/25! This is LOCAL scholarship.
The Wimberley Valley Museum Scholarship - Three scholarships will be given in the amount of $1,000 each to the graduating Class of 2026

Wimberley Water Supply Raymond L. Czichos Memorial Scholarship - The WVBB is very pleased to offer financial aid to students from Wimberley High School with a record of achievement, who plan to pursue further instrumental, orchestral, or vocal music studies, and in need of financial assistance to pursue their musical goals beyond high school. Due April 1, 2026
Lions Club Scholarship - The purpose of this scholarship program is to support graduating high school seniors from the Wimberley community as they pursue post-secondary education or technical training. Scholarships are intended to help offset the costs of academic or technical programs.
The Texas Leadership Scholars (TLS) Program (TLS) offers a 4-year renewable scholarship (capped at cost of attendance and need) plus leadership development, mentoring, undergraduate research, and study abroad opportunities at 31 partner universities.
Student applications will be accepted October 1, 2025 – February 17, 2026.
Each application requires a high school staff recommendation. Students enter the staff member’s name and email, and that person receives the recommendation link immediately after the student submits their application.
TACS SCHOLARSHIPS- Every year, the Texas Association of Community Schools (TACS) awards multiple scholarships to students. Click here to view the different scholarships. To apply for a scholarship, please send a completed application to TACS by 11:59 PM on March 1st, 2026.
CAPITAL CITY A&M CLUB- This year the Capital City A&M Club (the “Club”) will continue to award $5,000* scholarships to Austin-area high school students who plan to start their freshman year at Texas A&M University in College Station this fall. Each recipient will receive no less than $1,250* each fall and spring semester for a total of four semesters. The Capital City A&M Club Foundation (the “Foundation”) funds the scholarships. The Club coordinates the administration of the scholarships. Click here to appy.
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) - ASCE YMF is offering a scholarship for 2025-2026 high school seniors who are interested in pursuing Civil Engineering, STEM, or a related field. The deadline is Friday, April 10th, 2026 at 5 pm CDT. Please note that the scholarship application will close upon receiving forty (40) applicants.
