Unit 4- New Nations-Competency: Analyze how democratic ideals shaped government in North Carolina and the United States.
We have left the American Revolution Unit behind and we have started working on New Nations. We are analyzing documents, sorting through primary sources, deciphering the language of the Constitution and looking back at the Founding Fathers and the philosophers who motivated them. We are engaging in political discussions as we, as a class, debate the role of government. We will finish the unit with a project that allows the students to get their creative juices flowing by having them create a piece of artwork- it can be in any medium they choose, to showcase a democratic ideal that both shaped our government and one that we still struggle with: more information to follow as we get closer.
Below are the links to all the sources we will be using in class, all the information can also be found on our team calendar on the homepage.
