Until this point, in our history, we have been concerned with our immediate borders and Westward expansion, then the internal issues that plagued our country- now, we as a country turn out sites on American imperialism -it is the time in our country's history when we shifted our interests beyond our borders and changed our policies to extend our political, economic, and cultural control to other countries. There were 5 main reasons for Imperialism: economic, exploratory, ethnocentric, political, and religious motives. This unit will lead us directly to WWI and set the stage for American becoming a world power.
