6th Rugby Scout Group provided some of the volunteers for the Rugby Half Marathon this weekend. A small but dedicated team of volunteers were stationed at the finish line to cheer, encourage and handout medals to the finishers.
This was a great privilege and enabled the Scout volunteers to witness the exhaustion and exuberance of the finishers as they turned the final corner and could see the finish line ahead of them. Every single runner was cheered in and enthusiastically greeted as well as handed a medal! It was a privilege to be stationed at such an important position. Thanks to the organisers for inviting us to take on that job, and we sincerely hope to be asked back next year.
