It feels like we have two year ends in Scouting. The end of the calendar year, December, dark nights, Christmas on the horizon, lending itself to an indoor Group celebration. And the end of the school year. Long evenings and (hopefully) fine weather lending itself to an outdoor celebration.
This year we were back at Coton with a mixture of activities for the whole Scout Group.
Beavers and Cubs took it in turns to complete a tree search challenge, seeing if they could find leaves from some of the different variety of trees at Coton. Some common, and some not so common. They also had a go at axe throwing, the first time for all the Beavers. The Beavers then had howler and frisbee throwing competitions. The Cubs kept themselves occupied with the Sixers running a couple of wide games.
There was time snacks. Hotdogs with cheese slices, watermelon slices, crisps, chocs etc. Plenty for everyone.
The evening finished with a free for all water gun fight. Which some of our Young Leaders take very seriously indeed.
And that's it. Another year completed, a break for summer, ready for all to return refreshed in September for another year of Scouting.
