Week 9
Week 9
Understanding that everyone learns at different rates.
Knowing that saying bad things towards people hurts their hearts.
We don't like it when people say bad things to us, so don't say bad things to others.
Congratulating others on small achievements, as well as big ones.
Helping others to learn how to play the game/do the mahi.
Being humble when you win.
Being nice to those who lose. Use put ups "good game!", specific feedback on what they did well (like our blogs).
Using kind words all the time. If it isn't kind, we waha ngū (shut our mouths)
Caring about others and helping them to achieve/feel better
We will have less hurt feelings in class and on the playground.
People will think I'm a good person and want to be my friend.
There will be less fights around the school.
We've all visited a marae, but do we know the all the ways a marae works? The roles and people? The names of the parts of our marae? In te reo?
We are learning about our marae and the tangata (people) who are the heart of it.

Array -a set of objects or numbers arranged in order, often in rows and columns. Arrays often make counting and calculating easier.
Algorithm - a way of setting out a step-by-step mathematical procedure. A method or strategy used to find an answer. Named after the famous 9th-century Persian astronomer and mathematician, Muhammad ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi.
Parallel - Parallel is the term used to describe things that remain the same distance apart all the time. They never get closer together or further apart. They never meet. Lines can be parallel, meaning they run alongside each other, remaining the same distance apart along their whole length.
If you have done ALL your mahi, then you can do these activities (not when doing "can do" sessions).
TIMES TABLES GAMES ONLINE - complete all the activities (before you practice using the games). Get your certificate for ALL of the times tables. Practice until you can do it with your eyes closed! NO GAMES UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE ALL THE ACTIVITIES FOR ONE OF THE TIMES TABLES.
PROTOTEC - Start at a lower level to get your brains going, then go up to the next level to push yourself. Try to get at least 90% correct, keep on trying!
PRACTICE CHAMPS CARDS - Do one card for the day. Don't do the same card twice. Note: The QR codes do NOT work on these.
MATHS BUDDY - When you have finished your ACTIVE TASKS (must be done first) then try the Weekly Revision.
POLYMATH - Play by yourself! Choose home if the option comes up.

PRACTICE EVERY DAY.
When you earn enough honeypots, you can change your Avatar on FRIDAYS ONLY, not during the week.
Get my ideas ready to write a great narrative (story!)
I can use a plan (like a mind map or list) to get all my ideas down.
I can write a sizzling start to hook my readers in
I can tell everyone what my writing is about in my first part.
I can use great words to make my start sound interesting.
Characters
Did I tell you who my story is about? (Are they cool? What are they like? What do they look like? What is their personality?)
Setting
Did I tell you where my story happens? (Is it a neat place?)
Place and Time
Did I tell you when my story happens? (Is it a long time ago, or right now? Yesterday? In the future???)
Hook
Did I write a first sentence that makes you want to keep reading? (Is it a sizzling start?)
