ONLY fill out the application you qualify for.
(The applications below are to be filled out during Senior year and will need to be completed on an annual basis for every year you plan on attending college)
2024-2025 applications now open!
Starting October 1 through June 30, students and families can attend FREE Cash for College workshops, hosted by the California Student Aid Commission, across California for help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act (CADAA) and Chafee Grant for Foster Youth applications.
Their mission is to help low-income and first generation college-goers complete the application process so you can access financial aid for education and career/technical training beyond high school.

Utllize your californiacolleges.edu account to launch your FAFSA or CADAA. You can monitor your application’s status and confirm whether it has been completed and submitted.

WHAT IS THE FREE APPLICATION FEDERAL STUDENT AID?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) allows eligible students to apply for financial aid (grants, work-study, and loans) to pay for college or career school.
COMPLETE IF:
You are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, eligible non-citizens or if you have a T-Visa. You can fill out the FAFSA to access:
— State and federal grants.
— Work-study
— Student loans.

WHAT IS THE CALIFORNIA DREAM ACT APPLICATION?
The California Dream Act Application allows eligible students interested in attending eligible California Colleges, Universities and Career Education Programs to apply for state financial aid.
COMPLETE IF:
You are undocumented, have valid or expired DACA status, have a U-Visa or are on Temporary Protected Status. You can fill out the CADAA to access:
— State scholarships.
— Grants.
— Student loans.

FAFSA/Dream Act Opt Out Waiver
Mission Vista High School is committed to expanding post-secondary financial aid opportunities such that students are able to pursue a future of their choice. To this end, all students are expected to complete either the FAFSA application for federal student aid or the California Dream Act by February 2nd.
Additional assistance for completion of the application is available in the Mission Vista Center for Student Support Office. Families may also receive support through the California Student Aid Commission.
Parents/ Guardians wishing to waive this graduation expectation and opt-out of receiving all post-secondary financial aid may do so by completing this waiver. Students who are 18 years of age may complete the waiver independent of their parent/ guardian. Completed waivers must be submitted to the MVHS Center for Student Support Office no later than January 31, 2023.
