Covers national curriculum for Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) training. Includes the study and application of emergency medical skills and procedures, basic anatomy and physiology, terminology, and prevention of disease transmission. CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Specific Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
Explain the first responder's role in pre-hospital care including safety and well-being, and medical legal issues;
Identify medical and behavioral emergencies within the scope of practice of an EMR;
Apply principles of bandaging and splinting for musculoskeletal and spinal injuries. (A.)application of cervical collar (B.)in-line stabilization with backboard;
Identify body systems and specific emergencies within the scope of practice of an EMR;
Analyze the importance of early detection of cardiovascular emergencies;
Explain techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation of the professional rescuer according to American Heart Association for the following:(A.) One rescuer CPR: Adult, Child and Infant (B.) Two rescuer CPR: Adult, Child and Infant (C.) Airway obstruction: Adult, Child and Infant (D) AED;
