Chemistry 1 investigates the properties of matter through project-based learning and hands on activities helping students to develop an understanding of the world in which they live. Activities will revolve around the use of chemical equations, bonding behaviors of atoms, properties of matter, energy, behavior of gases and solutions. Chemistry I is for the student who does not plan on taking AP sciences.

Space, the final frontier. In this course, we will explore our solar system, galaxy, and the whole universe through the lens of physical sciences. Astronomy is a rigorous physical science laboratory course dedicated to understanding and mastering concepts, including mathematical modeling, in the study of the universe. Core topics will include the night sky, celestial mechanics, planets, stellar properties, stellar evolution, electromagnetic radiation, and cosmology.

AP Computer Science Principles is an introduction to the basics of computing. It is designed to prepare students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to live and participate in our increasingly digital society. It is equivalent to a college-level "Computer Science for Non-CS majors" class. Students will spend roughly half of the course learning about the multi-layered systems of the internet, how digital information like images are stored on a computer, and about current events at the intersection of data, public policy, and ethics. Students will spend the other half of the course learning how to program in JavaScript language as well as designing simple apps that highlight core concepts of computing. The course culminates in two independent research projects that allows students to demonstrate their interests and knowledge.

Each system will have an activity or a dissection to enhance the experience and aid learning. The class will culminate with a hands-on lab practical exam.

AP® Physics C: Mechanics is a one-semester, calculus-based, college-level physics course, especially appropriate for students planning to specialize or major in engineering. Students cultivate their understanding of physics through classroom study and explore concepts like linear and rotational motion, force interactions, oscillations, as well as momentum and energy conservation. You’ll investigate each phenomena and use calculus to solve problems. The advantage of taking AP® Physics C exam is that many colleges grant credit and placement depending on their cut-off score. Most colleges will require a student to have a minimum score of 3. AP Physics C is more challenging than AP Physics 2.

Students investigate the variety of interventions involved in the prevention, diagnosis Medical Interventions is articulated with Miramar College Biology 131- Introduction to Biotechnology. To earn the college credit students must receive an A or B in the course and an A or B on the college level exam.and treatment of disease as they follow the lives of a fictitious family. The course is a "How-To" manual for maintaining overall health and homeostasis in the body as students explore: how to prevent and fight infection; how to screen and evaluate the code in human DNA; how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer; and how to prevail when the organs of the body begin to fail. In this course students solve problems related to the biomedical sciences. Students will design innovative solutions for the health challenges of the 21st century. They may consult with a mentor or advisor from a university, hospital, physician's office, or industry as they complete their work. Students are expected to present the results of their work to an adult audience, which may include representatives from the local healthcare or business community or the school's PLTW® partnership team.
