Hello, my name is Scott Pena and I am a senior at WPI studying Robotics Engineering and minoring in Computer Science. I am very involved in all things admissions, being an Admissions Associate as well as being part of the Crimson Key Executive Team as one of the Quality Assurance Managers. I am also affiliated with Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, the Outing Club, as well as I even got to raise a guide dog for a year on campus! I chose WPI for a variety of reasons, but I feel the biggest factors were the RBE major as well as WPI's focus on project-based learning. I strongly encourage anyone who is at all interested in robotics to reach out and chat all about robotics projects you can do here at WPI!

MQP: 3D Printed Humanoid Robotics

For my Major Qualifying Project, I am working with 2 toddler-sized humanoid robots, named Ava (pictured above) and Koalby. I am on the Locomotion subteam, where 5 other students and I are tasked with implementing control systems and software to make these robots walk, push carts, and carry cargo to become a suitable lab assistant!

Phi Kappa Theta

I am affiliated with Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, one of the 13 fraternity chapters at WPI. KAP is one of the smaller fraternities on campus, consisting of roughly 28-30 members. In the picture, I am helping out with one of our termly events, Thank KAP It's Finals (or TKIF). During this event, we gather a TON of bread, bagels, and sweets from local Dunkin' and Panera Bread stores and give them away to students completely for free!

Guide Dog Foundation

During my junior year, I worked with the Guide Dog Foundation located in Smithtown, NY. With them, I helped raise and train a puppy who would grow up to be a guide dog for the visually impaired. Above is the puppy I raised, a black lab named Chip. I helped raise Chip since he was about 3 months old.
