Hello everyone! My name is Deena Selitsky and I am a current junior at WPI, pursuing my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Data Science. I am on the executive board for Crimson Key which is our tour guide program on campus. I am the Crimson Key Marketing Manager so I help run the WPI admissions social media accounts and plan other fun events for our tour guides! Outside of being a tour guide, I am also a Community Advisor. I assist first-year students with the transition to college life and help them get involved on campus. I work closely with a Residential Advisor and an Insight Advisor to support the students throughout their first semester at WPI. In my free time, I enjoy working out, baking, and listening to music. Please feel free to reach out to me at the email address listed above!

Crimson Key Marketing Manager

Crimson Key is the Tour Guide program here at WPI. As the Marketing Manager, I help plan events for our tour guides, manage the social media accounts, and make this website! I welcome campus visitors and establish a quality first impression while representing WPI.

Community Advisor

As a Community Advisor at WPI, my role is both rewarding and impactful. Alongside a Resident Advisor and an Insight Advisor, I assist a group of 30 students in adjusting to WPI in their first semester. I host regular floor hours to provide support to my students and assistance in navigating the complexities of university life. Beyond this, I curate engaging programs and events that foster connections among students, helping them build lasting friendships and networks that extend far beyond their time on campus. These programs are not just about social interaction; they are designed to facilitate personal growth, enhance professional development, and boost academic success. Being a Community Advisor is more than just a role; it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact on students' lives during a pivotal time in their academic journey.

Omicron Delta Kappa

I am a member of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the National Leadership Honor Society. Its primary goals are threefold: to recognize accomplished leaders on campus, to further develop the leadership skills of its members, and to promote good leadership practice on campus.

Internship Experience

Over the summer of 2023, I worked at Altair, a leading software company specializing in simulation, high performance computing, and data analytics. My role has allowed me to gain proficiency in diverse software products, enabling me to conduct comprehensive data analysis, cleaning, and visualization. For instance, I created a comprehensive data visualization software for Altair’s C-suite and executive leadership. This dashboard allows the company to see revenue in one spot, whereas they previously had to shuffle through multiple reports to answer business questions. The dashboard is built so that it allows the user to interactively select which global zone, account vertical, revenue type, opportunity manager, and primary product driver they want to look at, therefore tailoring the dashboard to each individual's needs. This experience has elevated my technical acumen and polished my ability to distill complex concepts into compelling visuals for diverse audiences.

Institutional Research & Strategic Initiatives

For my work study, I work in the Office of Institutional Research & Strategic Initiatives. We look at the undergraduate and graduate programs that WPI has to offer and the curriculums for each program. We determine if the skills taught align properly with the skills that companies are looking for in a specific job title and provide that information to the Deans.

Gym!

In my free time, I love to go to the gym! It helps me destress and stay active. The WPI gym has a lot of equipment so there is something for everyone!
