Fire Protection Engineering (MS)
Hi everyone! I came to WPI to get involved and continue to be a well-rounded student, and it did not disappoint. On campus, I'm involved in varsity women's rowing, Alpha Phi, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, panhellenic council, community advising, and attend various other events. I have also found the 7-week terms to be super helpful in being able to take classes just to see what I like. Coming from halfway across the country, I was very nervous, but I have found so many great people who are always there for me, and now I feel like I have found my home away from home. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I am happy to help!
I knew I wanted to do a varsity sport in college, and when I arrived at WPI, I heard that I could join the varsity rowing team with no experience. Since joining, the team has become like a family to me. Rowing has given me so many memories, including all of our spring training trips to Florida and competing in the Women's Henley Regatta in England. If I were to go back and start my freshman year over, I would absolutely join the team again. All of the relationships I've built have made my college experience extremely enjoyable. I am excited to spend more time competing with my teammates!
I have always wanted to have a better understanding of fire and how it interacts with other materials. Being part of SFPE has helped in finding internships and build my confidence and knowledge in the field of fire protection engineering. Serving as Secretary has been super rewarding in getting me connected with professionals in the field.
Coming to college, I never thought I would join a sorority, but when my CA and teammates suggested I go through formal recruitment, I thought, "What's the worst that can happen?" During the recruitment process, I was able to meet so many amazing women. I am now serving as VP DEI, and have been enjoying planning all kinds of events. As an underclassman, the upperclassmen were extremely helpful when I had questions about classes and other opportunities on campus.
