Education Production Functions in Developing Countries
Using the data sets of different international student achievement tests, I have estimated the descriptive association between family background and school measures on the one hand and student achievement on the other hand in different countries. For example, I have used the data of two Latin American countries - Argentina and Columbia - in the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) and the data of five East Asian countries - Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand - in the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
