Council refuses CPZ FOI requests

The Council has essentially insisted that it knows best and can withhold information on the basis that a consultation is under way and that information provided might sway views.  In a blow for transparency, Barnet Council officers have refused to provide information for at least six Freedom of Information requests relating to the Underhill South CPZ consultation.

A spokesperson for the Underhill Residents Group said:

"It's very disappointing that Council officers believe that providing basic information that they have failed to provide during the course of consultation would be considered to be against the public interest.  It doesn't promote confidence in the way decisions are made and how people are consulted."
