We have established that by the end of January 2026, 5% of all permits issued were refunded.
14 people received refunds according to a 29 January 2026 freedom of information response (ref: 16330633).
A total of 286 permits had been accepted and therefore issued in zone US that were resident permit related according to a Freedom of Information response dated 21 January 2026 (ref: 16089049).
This comes after a housing manager in the area claimed that they were only made aware of the enforcement when residents made contact. It is claimed that Barnet Council sent out letters to residents without consulting with them first. Discussions only followed later.
We believe that this lack of clarity and the lack of advance engagement by Barnet Council has been a key factor in many of the requests for refunds.
