Barnet Council is pushing ahead with several Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) schemes in and around Underhill Ward. If these go ahead, many residents will have to pay for a permit just to park on their own road.
Both QVGRA and URG have already opposed the Underhill South CPZ (consultation closed 28 July), but two more CPZ consultations are still live – and we’d like to hear your views on them:
Chipping Barnet D CPZ Extension – Closes 14 August
• Would extend the existing CPZ so that anyone living on Mays Lane between Leeside and Barnet Hill would need a paid permit to park on the road and so will friends and family who visit.
• It also means anyone using the Mays Lane parade of shops by the Co-op will need to pay for parking.
• If you live or park here, tell us how this would affect you.
Please respond to the Council’s consultation (https://www.engage.barnet.gov.uk/mays-lane-chipping...) to make sure your voice counts.
Barnet Hospital Experimental CPZ Extension – Closes 24 August
• Would make permanent the experimental CPZ introduced in February 2025.
• If you live in one of the affected streets, let us know: is it working for you? Why or why not?
Please respond to the Council’s consultation (www.engage.barnet.gov.uk/bh-cpz) to make sure your voice counts.
If you want to contact us about this:
• Say which CPZ you’re talking about.
• Include your road name.
We’re also happy to share what we learned from the Underhill South CPZ consultation — and why we believe these schemes are the wrong approach for our area.
