Placement:

• Know the indication for placement and relevant history.

• Unilateral or Bilateral

• Example: “24-year-old female with obstructing left ureteral stone, hydronephrosis & fever”.

• For inpatients, are they on antibiotics?

• INR < 1.5; Platelets > 50

Exchange:

• Indication: routine 3-month exchange, clogged, leaking, pulled out, etc…

• Unilateral or Bilateral

• INR < 1.5; Platelets > 50
