“Running the List” every morning is a chance for each member of the interventional radiology team to be aware of important information for planned inpatient procedures and scheduled outpatient procedures to be performed each day.
Basic demographics (i.e., age, gender)
Type of procedure scheduled or requested
Indication for the procedure
Pertinent clinical history
Pertinent laboratory values
Prior history of surgical/interventional procedures relevant to the requested procedure
As you gain experience in interventional radiology, you will have a better understanding of what information should be known prior to performing each procedure. The important information for commonly performed procedures is listed below. If you have questions about less common procedures, please ask a senior resident, fellow, or attending. Ideal safe laboratory values are provided as a guideline.
