The standard will be NOT to flush nephrostomy tubes
Flushing will be recommended in cases of thick urine (purulence) or proven stone disease that causes early clogging/dysfunction
Routine exchanges will be performed every 3 months. For pregnancy, routine exchange every 2 months.
Exchanges may be recommended more frequently in cases where stone disease causes earlier dysfunction
Certain infections will be the reason for early exchange to include:
Fungal (candida)
Pseudomonas
E. coli
