As soon as feasible, please alert the nursing staff in VIR of the need to admit the patient.

Please be mindful that VIR technologists and nurses leave at 17:30. Therefore, there will be no coverage for patients after this time.

VIR provider will need to call the Hillsborough MAO (Medical Admitting Officer) at 919-667-4493.

Please do not call the number for the Main Hospital.

If you can not reach anyone, please contact VIR nursing staff who can help page the Hospitalist at 123-7430.

The MAO will decide which provider will take the patient and who will write the orders. They will also touch base with the Hillsborough House Supervisor and the PLC. Hillsborough does not have any special services, i.e., Gynecology, Cardiology, etc.

The House Supervisor should be made aware of the pending admission as soon as possible; a VIR nursing staff can be delegated this task.
