The church is often accused of hatred, bigotry, and homophobia. That perception might be blown out of proportion. With a few possible exceptions, Christians do not hate homosexuals and certainly they should not. Jesus taught us to love. Nevertheless, that is the perception and, in some instances there might be very good reason for it. People might have suffered hateful behaviour from Christians.
Even where it is not true, Christians can have trouble knowing how to relate. It is a very tricky balance. It takes some understanding and skill if we are not to be so committed to truth that we fail to love (on the one hand) or some committed to love that we fail to tell the truth (on the other.)
There are many issues involved: love, compassion, understanding, acceptance, truth, judging, courage, being willing to be rejected, and more.
Read what is in this section and pray for the Holy Spirit to make you like Jesus.
