If someone is born a certain way, we cannot condemn that person for being that way. Why would God make people homosexual then condemn them for being what He made them?
The 2019 study of nearly 500,000 people
Whether people are born homosexual is a scientific question. The latest evidence is based on a study of nearly 500,000 people.
It has concluded that:
there is no single "gay gene".
there are five genes that have a correlation to homsoexual behaviour but together they account for less than 1% of what determines homosexual behaviour.
there is a correlation with thousands of other genes that each have a minute influence. Together they account for between 8% and 25% of same-sex sexual behaviour.
Environmental and social factors make up the rest.
The genetic influence is insufficient to predict a person's sexuality.
There is a genetic correlation between having engaged in same-sex sexual behavior and experiencing mental health issues, like major depressive disorder or schizophrenia, and with traits like risk-taking, cannabis use, openness to experience and loneliness.
Some pro-homosexuals did not want this research published for reasons including that othere might say that homosexuality is a choice and not predetermined. Suppressing data that does not fit with your views is hardly scientific objectivity.
Other studies have shown that the genetically identical twin of a homosexual is more likely to have a heterosexual than homosexual orientation Genetics have a role but a minor one.
It seems clear that some people are naturally more effeminate. For others, homosexuality is a learned behaviour. The current understanding is that there is no “gay gene” that makes someone homosexual but that some people do have a predisposition towards it. In other words, homosexuality is not pre-determined and unavoidable but some people have a natural inclination towards it. They did not choose to have the tendency but they do choose the behaviour.
The American Psychological Association
The APA, while supportive of homsoexuals, says that there is no consensus amongst scientists on what causes an individual to develop a heterosexual, bisexual, ga or lesbian orientation.

Of course, if it is true that a person has been born with homosexual tendencies, that does make it more difficult for that person to not also act that way and we must have sympathy.
However, that is also true of the person who is a “born liar” or a kleptomaniac. Indeed, most men have a natural tendency towards lust and know only too well the temptation of looking lustfully at other women. In other words, most men are naturally inclined towards adultery or fornication.
Indeed, we are all born inclined to sin and we struggle with different particular sins.
That does not mean that we can therefore indulge that sin. On the contrary, Christians are called to die to self and to live a new life in Christ.
All who are struggling with sin need our compassion. The fact that they are struggling demonstrates a desire to do what is right.
That is very different from being casual or defiant about sin. Christians should certainly be deeply worried for those people, but not excuse their behaviour.
This video is a little dated. Neither Love Won Out nor Exodus International (referenced in the testimony after 48 minutes) still operate. They were linked with "reparative therapy".
Nevertheless, Joe Dallas and Jeff Johnston are living examples of people who have been set free from homosexuality by the power of Jesus.
Being aware of that, be open to learn what remains true. In the first 48 minutes of this video, Joe Dallas talks about the nature and causes of male homosexual identity.
That is followed by the testimony of Jeff Johnston.
In this Q&A session, Sam Allberry answers a question about transgender people being born that way. His response is equally applicable to the suggestion that gay people are born that way.
