2 tbsp Urad Dal
2 tbsp Pepper
¼ tsp Asafoetida (Asafetida / Hing)
1 tsp Ghee
Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan. Add urad dal, pepper, hing to the pan.
Fry the ingredients till dal becomes light brown. Allow the fried ingredients to cool off completely.
Take the fried ingredients in a mixer jar.
Grind it to smooth powder. Allow the podi to cool off and then store in air-tight container for longer shelf life.
Kalathu Podi is now ready! Add the kalathu podi in poriyal or rasam!
