This is a cyberpunk show that looked so similar to Blade Runner, I honestly thought it would just be a terrible rip off. Instead, I got something quite unique and special. The show spans many genres. It's got action. It's also a deep and thoughtful cyberpunk. And the main plot line is a murder mystery.
Adapted from a book series, it's set in the far future. Humanity has figured out ways of transferring consciousness into electronic implants, allowing immortal life. Kind of.
This show was honestly very enjoyable. It certainly delivers in action. It's got a lot of it. Not too much gore, so I liked it.
But it's also got an amazing plot. They really show many interesting concepts and deliver them. The show was able to properly depict the idea of a physical body no longer being if much value, and being commercialized and replaceable.
They also brought some very interesting things, such as religious objections, black market businesses, and more. Such things are important to cyberpunk, and I like that they did it properly.
But what I really like is the power gap. The show really focused well on power and money, and how this technology has affected it. More than that, the show has genuinely deep and interesting characters.
The second season kinda dipped and became too plot driven. I really wish it didn't get canceled. Still, both seasons were great. I liked the whole show, start to finish.
