This is a movie that has redefined the post-apocalyptic genre for the world. A true work of art, this movie emanates an energy of craziness and action like no other. You can tell you’ll love the movie right from the start.
This is a movie set in a post-apocalyptic world, where the vast desert is ruled by a titan. Max, Tom Hardy, and Furiosa, Charlize Theron, get caught up in a lot of action as a rebellion sparks a hunt for them. This film is a complete reboot by George Miller, so it most likely has nothing to do with the previous Mad Max series.
Being experienced, George Miller has created a film like no other. The world created is unique, where everyone hungers for water, and the quality of life has deteriorated. But it’s not really this that sets Fury Road apart. It’s the way the movie was brought about.
The visuals are nauseating and unflinching, showing a truly desolate wasteland of scavengers. But it certainly isn’t bleak or dull in any way. The movie revved up more energy than most other action films, throwing in amazing stunts and sequences. The plot is filled with content, and always turns the right way.
The machines are perhaps the best part of the film. The world now hungers for oil, and hence runs on machines. The movie is filled with huge automobiles and weapons, thundering and booming with sound. It’s an experience unique to Mad Max films, creating a sensation of awe and fear looking at the machines.
The characters are PERFECT. Furiosa is an amazing lead and well etched character, and Mad Max is a protagonist perfected from previous films. The question, “Who is more crazy? Me or the world?” has been pushed to its extreme in this one. Max is truly one who he claims to be. He’s a man reduced to a single instinct to survive.
The machines and the world are harsh. The characters are warriors seeking to survive. So of course, the music adapts well. It’s always powerful and pounding. Cinematography is top tier, shifting effortlessly from close up shaky shots for immersiveness, to smooth wide angle shots to transport the viewers to another part of the action.
Overall, an amazing action film that truly redefined the post-apocalyptic genre. Mad Max : Fury Road is an absolute classic with well evolving characters, an entertaining yet unpredictable, and of course, an exciting new vibe. The visuals were definitely too harsh every once in a while. In spite of that, it’s a crazy film that needs to be watched.
