Feel free to put in a headshot of your character in this space! It can be the same from your full body or different! Have fun with it!
Magic does exist in the Solara Veil Universe, but has mostly fallen into the realm of myth and legend, so most folks either don't believe or don't know about magic. However! There are still some folks who do believe in magic and there are rumours that the Town of Solara Veil has some sort of connection ot magic. This means that new folks coming to Solara Veil can very well be seeking the town for its magic connection! Perhaps more can be discovered about this in the future...
No... and yes! In the full body art, the mids must be able to see an Altermew's face. If the character normally wears a face covering, like a bandana, that can we displayed in the smaller picture space!
You can... and you can't.
At this time, being an Outlaw or Bandit cannot be a Character's "Occupation", but they certainly can have a troubled past and be a bandit on the run! We encourage creativity, as long as the Character intends to "go straight" and contribute to the town in some legal manner.
Coins in a member's Storage are pooled together from all of their activity/submissions, regardless of how many characters they might have. Coins are necessary so we can operate as a group, but in-universe wise.... it's really up to you! For instance, your character can technically be "wealthy" even if you only have 2 Coins in your Storage. Have fun with it!

An Altermew is Solara Veil's term for what is commonly known as a "Gijinka" - a humanoid character that the attributes of a creature, which in this group's case is Pokémon. For instance, a Charizard Altermew could be a man who has a Charizard tail and wings.
An Altermewtation consists of the qualities a person exhibits relating to a particular Pokémon. These qualities are both physical attributes, known as Traits, and internal conditions, such as Abilities and Movesets. A Person typically exhibits between 2 to 4 Traits, before there have been people who have more. However, overly Traited people can sometimes be mistaken for Berserkers and may face prejudice or judgement by some. See the Create a Character page for more details.
A Solaran is the term for a resident who lives in Solara Veil. Once you move to the town and complete the process to have your own property, you are an official Solaran!
A Berserker is an Altermew who can Mega Evolve. See more details on the Berserker page.
Answer
Yes! New characters can have 1 child (aged 0-17) with them upon arriving to Solara Veil. To do so, you will need to complete both a Character Application (the parent/guardian) and an NPC Application (the child)
Of course! Gender-based Pokémon rules don't apply to Altermews!
Yes, of course!
Characters can skin conditions/disorders like vitiligo, piebaldism, albinism or melanism, but this would be attributed to their "human" side. What this means is that the condition can only affect the skin and hair of the character, and hair colour isn't even treated as a Trait anyways so it can be any colour!
However, because these kinds of conditions affect the "human" side of an Altermew, that means that the Traits cannot be affected. Ex) no white Pikachu Tail or piebald Luxray Ears.
Members may create 2 Berserkers out of their total 5 characters, if they so choose.
Yes, a Berserker can increase its body mass in some way while in the Berserk State, but it would entirely depend on the degree of size increase. The proposed design in question should be brought to the attention of the mods before the application is complete in order for them evaluate that the design isn't too outlandish.
Yes they can... albiet sparingly.
A Character cannot indefinitely breathe underwater, because they are still "human" and humans can't live under water. Maybe they can be underwater for a limited time? Or perhaps breathing underwater makes a person sick after too long? Be creative without straying into god-moddy territory.
Besides, think of the ramifications that comes with being underwater for an extended period.
Think of... possible hypothermia, water pressure, decompression sickness etc. A Character would have to have resistances to these kinds of factors and that would add to a Character's Traits pretty quick.
Yes... but with limitations!
If Hair is non-follicle (aka human hair), and is some sort of tendrils or even snake-like appendages, these cannot be too sentient. Snake-hair cannot have personalities! Mobile Hair can be reactive with a Character's emotions, such as flinching when an Altermew is surprised, but should have clearly demonstrated independence or be too prehensile.
Hair cannot be used as additional "hands"!
Of course! Because Solara Veil is set in the "future" (albeit apocalyptic future), they do have access to "steampunky" tech, so have fun with designs! However! Keep things fairly basic, think Treasure Planet, and nothing as advanced as say automail from Fullmetal Alchemist, or something.
Altermews whose Altermewtations naturally come with more arms, are allowed to have up to 4 additional torso-based limbs - this can include arms (like Machamp), tentacles (like Malamar), or other appendages. If you're worried about your possible design, feel free to ask a mod about it!
However! All characters must only have 2 legs! No centaurs here! The Leg Traits must end on the thighs. This means that Altermews must have human genitalia and butts (even if the butt is covered in fur or scales or something). No satyrs allowed!
If someone would like to submit a character whose Altermewtation changes naturally due to the seasons or weather, like Sawsbuck or Castform, then they may adhere to the Pokémon's different forms in the group!
This means that ALL of the forms must be submitted as part of the application.
Ex) Sawsbuck in all 4 of its forms. With these different forms, the number of Traits MUST remain the same. Ex) Sawsbuck character has 3 Traits, Ears, Legs, Tail, in all 4 forms.
For Pokémon that change form due to an "item", such as Rotom or Oricorio, they are stuck in 1 form of the member's choice. HOWEVER! If a form change is wanted, then this could be considered an "evolution" of the character, meaning a new design and design review would be required from the Mods.
The general rule of thumb for Pokémon that can change their appearance on the fly is that only OUTWARD appearances can change, not INTERNAL ORGANS.
Also, transformations can ONLY LAST up to 12 hours as a required limitation.
For Zorua or Zoroark, the change of appearance is temporary and must be Altermew-based, so no transforming into a Pokémon.
For Ditto Altermews, they may change their appearance to another gender in appearance, or mimic another Altermew, but other gender-forms must be approved by the Mods (preferably with the Character's Application), and these changes do not affect a character's organs, which means no healing of missing limbs, damaged organs, etc. or truly switching sexes on command. Ditto Altermews cannot change into Pokémon or inanimate objects.
Yes you can, but there are some limitations.
The Sunswept Wastes (aka the Unova Region) can be reached by travellers and immigrants from across the lands and oceans (the world's oceans DO still exist just at a lower sea-level), but it a very dangerous journey. The effects of Groudon's Reign still remain and seafaring as an art and technology has bee lost in many parts of the world, also that the oceans are plagued by terrible storms and unpredictable waves.
However, if wish to have a Character originating from outside of the Sunswept wastes, here are the possible options for you to be creative with:
If a Character is from, or has been to, another region, their time spent in this region must be written VAGUELY in your Character Application's History section. Please do not include specific details or canon place names, as many of these have been changed or lost in the past couple of centuries.
If a Character has recently immigrated to the Sunswept Wastes, the Mods ask that they have spent at least 1 Year minimum in the region before choosing to move to Solara Veil, so they have some time to acclimate to the region first.
Character may be from some sort of nomadic group; however, please use caution when choosing this origin as to not harmfully portray a real-life cultural group or diaspora. Be creative, not stereotypical!
Towns across the Sunswept Wastes are known/ can have "ethnic islands" as part of their population, aka ethnic neighborhoods of concentrated ethnicities (think real-life Little Italy or China Town). Characters can originate from within the region itself, but still adhere to other regional cultures, traditions, and/or accents.
Answer
No! Just because an Altermew is a Ghost-type, such as Haunter, doesn't mean that they're an actual ghost. The Altermew isvery much alive, just with some spooky Traits!
Altermews who are Ghost-types could have the trait of floaty heads and/or limbs
BUT! This would be a highly unusual/rare trait that most folks won't be used to seeing and it may cause some to react badly and/or with fear. The Altermew in question may even be accused of being a Berserker and avoided/face prejudice
That is to say - if you decide on a dallahan character, mods would expect them to be played and portrayed realistically in the group's setting. It'd probably be best to check with a mod to discuss your design before you submit your app, just to be safe!

The planet of the Solara Veil Universe is called Tera. Think of it as an alternate universe to the Pokémon Universe that we know and love. For a headcanon context, think of the world as the same one as depicted in the mainline anime etc., except in the SV Universe: humans are now extinct, magic is real, and most the known regions have been destroyed and renamed to something else.
Due to the Sunswept Wastes being such an hospitable, sandy wasteland, it does not have a formal capital. However, the largest settlement is actually the town of Dusty Basin, which is located in the Southwest. The map as seen here is actually perceptively screwed to focus on Solara Veil, meaning that the town is not as large as the map suggests.
It's up to you! Just like Pokémon evolve in the anime/games, Altermews can evolve from... aging, puberty, major life events, stress, evolution items, battling, or whatever! The mods always encourage creativity!
Of course they can! If, say, you have a character who is a Ponyta Altermew, and you want to evolve them, all that needs to be done is to send in a Design Review Mail from the Submit Mail channel in the Discord Server so that the Altermew's evolved design can be reviewed by the Mods. Once they give their approval, then you are free to evolve your character and upload their updated app to the App Gallery.
Not necessarily! In terms of evolution for Altermews, Mods are allowing members to be creative with this and do what they want, so have fun! Just remember that if you do decide to evovle your Altermew, that the new design will need to be approved by the mods first!

Yes! The Sunswept Wastes are a hostile environment and Severe Weather happens. When does it happen? Who knows! The Gods only, probably. Environmental Damage from events such as Sandstorms or Flash Floods can happen, and they can Damage a House - just like in real life! Once a House is Damaged, it must be fixed and this can be done by visiting the Architectural Guild.
Unfixed Houses cannot be Renovated and, really? Who wants to continue living in a Damaged House?
If a character chooses to move away (for Cohabitation or leaving the group), then their old Property will revert back to having an "Old House". All newly purchased Properties will start out the same, for fairness sake. So move wisely!
Answer answer
Yes! Heart Events that take place in the past can be depicted as a "flashback", as long as the two involved characters are both accepted into the group.

No! All baby Altermews are born at the youngest/first of their evolution line, so a Horsea or a Ponyta!
Nope! Even if both parents are from the Charizard line, they can have a child who is a Lapras!

Unfortunately, as part of the Town's advertising for more citizens ot come and move into the town with the promise of free land, only Farms or Ranches can operate on Property Addresses. Additionally, the Storefronts on Market Street are not built to support living quarters, so Solarans cannot living in or above their Businesses.
Maybe this will change as the town's economy improves!
At this time, considering the town's economic state, the only jobs available are what's stated in the Occupations page. But! Maybe in the future once the town's economic state improves, there will be more options!
Currently... no. One job per character!
If you want your character to volunteer in addition to their Occupation, then you can state their volunteer work under their Trivia section of their application. Any submissions depicting volunteer work is considered Everyday Submissions and won't earn any additional benefits or Coins (like Occupation Submissions can)
No and yes - it depends!
If the piece is my a single Member, then the Submission can only be one Submission Type.
BUT if the Submission is a Collab, then the piece may be designated as 2 Submission Types, such as an Occupation and Taming Attempt piece.
Just make sure that the Submission's depcition represents these designations!

Every person has their own style, so please! Feel free to depict a Pokémon in your way and the Mods allow for a certain degree of creative freedom for how a Pokémon is depicted
Such as... Pokémon being more "realistic," being fluffier, more feral, more animalistic, with a different colouration spot on one section of the creature, or has a slightly different shade of a canon colour.
As long as the Pokémon is identifiable as that Pokémon, it should be fine.
However! There are limitations! Different/non-canon colours colours, completely different skin/fur types, or additional appendages won't be allowed, as well as "special markings" i.e. markings like stripes, spots, additional fur or limbs that make the Pokémon depiction too unique or that takeover a Pokémon's appearance.
When in doubt, feel free to submit a Design review Ticket to check with the Mods!
NOTE: A Pokémon Visual Guide is in the works!
Of course! Loyal Companions can be considered pets ad don't necessarily have to battle.
Unfortunately, not at this time!
Since Solara Veil is barely hanging on as a functioning town, the current Companion availability list is set. However! As the Town grows and Adventurers discover new areas in the Sunswept Wastes, who knows can changes will be implemented?
Yes! Companions can be different sizes, ranging from XXS to XL. These sizes must adhere to canon Pokémon ranges (or close to them) and can be chosen by the Solaran buyer. This only applies to Drafts, Mounts, and Livestock.
However! Keep in mind that sizes for Mounts must remain realistic! An XXS Rapidash can't realistically carry a person - when in doubt, double check with a Mod.
XXL Pokémon, aka Alphas, can only be Tamed and are extremely rare! Tamed Pokémon sizes are randomized.
Currently, Paradox Pokémon have been lost to the annologs of time. Then again... much knowledge has been lost during Groudon's Reign, so who knows what might be out there in the Sunswept Wastes?
There are rumours of mysterious Pokémon having been seen out in the Sunswept Wastes, but so many rumours can be chocked up to heresy and foolishness. Right? Who knows... perhaps one day a brave Adventuruer might make a discovery.
No!
Companions are Loyal to their masters, so they can't jsut be released... they'd find their way back to town! Or they'd become a nuisance for others and therefore a safety issue.
The only way to get rid of a Companion is to the take it to the Butcher! People have to eat and butchered Pokémon provide Meat and materials that can be used!
So Tame Pokémon wisely and if there's an opportunity to claim a PokéEgg, keep in mind that sometimes you don't know what will hatch!
That would be entirely up to you! If you wanted to kill off your Companino for story-reasons, that's okay! You'd just have to let us Mods know.
As to what happens afterwards... the Companion would either be left where it died or buried by its owner or its carcass brought to the Butcher. Nothing should go to waste in the Sunswept Wastes!

In Solara Veil's Universe, metal is a precious commodity, so there are no Pokéballs in production. Actually, the formula of how to create Pokéballs has supposedly been lost. Bygoners have found inoperable Pokéballs in Bygone Ruins, but maybe there might still be a few that work? This is currently not known.
Mega Stones are only applicable to Pokémon, not Altermews. There are no specialty Mega Stones in the Solara Veil Universe (i.e. no Charizardite). Any Mega Stone can be applied to to any final evolution Pokémon, unlike Altermews, who can go Berserk no matter their evolution stage.
