No matter which god an Altermew worships or religion they align with, there are zero grounds of bigotry or intolerance in the Solara Veil Universe! Even though the world of the Sunswept Wastes is hard and people may not be too trusting of each other and may even fear Berserkers, there are no instances of religious persecution or discrimination allowed! The religions of the Church of Yveltal's Light and the Sacred Antlers of Xerneas both practice principles of being a better person, respecting nature, and the natural order of life, not discriminatory sentiments! Even those who don't adhere to the religions and only believe in the greater Pantheon do not discriminate against those who follow either religion, for they are just focused extensions of the beliefs of the Pantheon itself with special emphasis on Yveltal and Xerneas especially.
No characters are allowed to be outspoken bigots or religious extremists in any regard - keep it kind and fun, please!
"Welcome, child. Please, come sit a while, if you'd like. I am Head Priestess Alathea, and I will happily answer any questions about the Gods that you have, or we can sit here together and enjoy the beauty of the day."
Every Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are regarded as gods in the Universe of Solara Veil. Each god is a mighty, fearsome, and a beast not to be trifled with or insulted. Every deity is attributed a power or responsibility that they govern and people may pray to different deities depending on what they are praying for. There is no dogma attributed to any Pokémon god and different regions have different festivals or holidays dedicated to relevant gods. While individual families or communities might have small shrines for specific gods, there is no formal "religion" attributed to the Pantheon. Not even Arceus, the God of Creation, has an established religion unto itself, though people still pay their respects to the Creator just like any other god.
An Alter of the Pantheon is located in Solstice Park.
All religious rites relating to the Pantheon are overseen and carried out by Head Priestess Alathea Sophian, who provides wisdom and knowledge of the Pantheon to community as well as officiating weddings.
For the full list of gods, see the Gods & Deities page.
(The Pantheon of the Gods in the Solara Veil Universe works similarly to Ancient Greek mythology and religious practices.)"Greetings. My name is Reverend Bonitus Lebeau, and I am the Head Priest of The Church of Yveltal's Light. If you ever feel lost and require guidance, I will help you to the best of my ability."
In the years before Groudon's Reign, Yveltal, the God of Death & Destruction, was either feared or largely ignored until a death occurred. Due to the god's life cycle, it can be decades or longer in between the great god slumbering in its cocoon and being awake. When exactly the Death God went back to sleep before Groudon was summoned has been lost. The next time the god was spotted was by the Hero Mazin in 2304 ADD, when the adventurer saw Yveltal rising from its slumber. Following the God of Destruction revealed that Yveltal's destination was none other than Groudon. The Hero Mazin witnessed Yveltal use its power to absorb energy, which weakened Groudon enough for the God of New Land to lose its Primal state.
By the next year, 2305 ADD, a new religion has been formed in Yveltal's name to commemorate the God of Destruction's victory over Groudon. Followers of this religion recognize that Groudon had been manipulated by the evil of Altermews, which forced the New Land God to disrupt the flow of the natural like cycle. Followers know that Groudon should not be blamed, for that is why Yveltal allowed Groudon to flee after its defeat once the God of Death had saved its fellow god from the binds of the Red Ord.
The Church of Yveltal's Light teaches resilience, hard work, and the willingness to help others, while recognizing that death is no end and not to be feared, but represents new beginnings and is essential in the life cycle.
"My oh my! A visitor!! Welcome, take a seat. Care for some tea? My name is Eleanor Lynch, Priestess of Xerneas. How may I serve you today?"
Unlike its counterpart, Yveltal, the God of Death & Destruction, Xerneas has always been reverend by Altermews due to its status as the God of Life & Rebirth. People often pray to Xerneas, and in the years immediately following the start of Groudon's Reign, many prayed in earnest for Xerneas to appear and put an end to the world's suffering and return life to the world. As the years turned into decades, people steadily lost hope and many feared that somehow Groudon had killed Xerneas.
That is, until Yveltal appeared in 2304 ADD and defeated Groudon, who fled into the unknown subterranean darkness. Even with the God of New Land's defeat, it took years for the world's climate to cool and begin to stabilize. Groudon's Reign has inflicted irreparable damage to the world and there was not much green left across the numerous barren lands, dried seas, and deserts. It is unknown exactly when it occurred, but after a few years rumours began to be spread that Xerneas, in all of its majestic glory, had been spotted rejuvenating the land.
Inspiration and hope spread with the news of Xerneas' return and this hope evolved into a new religion, which became known as the Sacred Antlers of Xerneas. The followers of this religion believe that the two antlers of Xerneas represent its duties: Life & Rebirth, and the many prongs of each antler represents each new opportunity and being of the world.
The Sacred Light of Xerneas teaches optimism, nurturing, and perseverance through hardship, while appreciating and respecting the natural order of the world and the care into cultivating a better future.
