The Egis fill two roles for Summoner. At lower levels, they serve as temporary summons that spawn and do a single large attack. Ifrit-Egi performs Inferno, Garuda-Egi performs Aerial Blast, and Titan-Egi performs Earthen Fury. They also serve as glamour options for the Summoner's Carbuncle. As glamours for Carbuncle, they will perform Radiant Aegis.
Egis have several technical details that need to be considered when creating a replacement.
Egis are classified as a flying/floating creature.
Egis have significant downscaling. Their summoned versions are around 40% their true size, with Titan-Egi's scaling being slightly different from the other two.
Egis are not affected by /petsize commands.
Normally, if you replace one egi with a creature, you would need to replace all three with the same creature, due to them sharing a single movement animation file. That said, I am able to separate the egis so that each one can be replaced with a different creature. Any commissions I do for egis will put the same creature onto all three egis, but will have the separation functionality built in for compatibility with my other summoner mods. This may conflict with egi replacements that do not have this function built in.
An Egi replacement generally involves several basic parts
Model replacements
Skeleton replacements
Binder replacements
Idle Animation replacements
Movement Animation replacements
Spawn Animation, VFX, and SFX replacements
Despawn Animation, VFX, and SFX replacements
Inferno Animation, VFX, and SFX replacements
Aerial Blast Animation, VFX, and SFX replacements
Earthen Fury Animation, VFX, and SFX replacements
Radiant Aegis Animation, VFX, and SFX replacements
In addition to the basic parts of the replacement, there are often other factors to consider that are more advanced edits
Scaling the model, skeleton, animations, and binders.
Shifting factors necessary for putting a terrestrial creature onto a flying/floating summon, which requires a separate version for Titan-Egi.
Egis do not have attachment settings. So when replacing it with a creature that is supposed to wield a particular weapon, the weapon has to be located and manually attached and weighted to the skeleton to be added to the model.
Some creatures, like Demi-humans, have multiple separate pieces that are combined by the game to give them variety. These parts have to be combined together to use as a replacement.
When thinking about what kind of creature you want to use for a replacement, think about some details about the creature.
If it's a terrestrial creatures, does it have a movement animation? Some terrestrial creatures, like Menphina with Dalamud, are stationary and thus do not have movement animations necessary for a terrestrial creature to appear to be walking or running. This is usually not an issue for floating/flying creatures that can get away with using their idle for movement.
Does it have any attack animations? Mounts do not usually have attack animation unless they are a variant or used in combat somewhere in the game. This can make creating a replacement far too difficult to execute well, which may result in me turning down the commission request.
Does the creature have particular attacks that you already know of that you can see replacing particular abilities that the summon has?
$30
If you're still interested in commissioning a creature replacement, and want an idea of price, I've thought of a base price to set for a basic replacement of the basic parts indicated above.
If the creature you want to use for the replacement requires more advanced editing and work, a higher price might need to be negotiated based on the complexity of the following.
Scaling
Shifting
Model combination
Weapon Attachment
