19. Temple of Valkur

The Temple of Valkur, overseen by Father Reddan Stormforge,  is a grand structure located near the docks, its design inspired by the sea and sailors’ deep reverence for the god of storms and maritime ventures. The building’s exterior is crafted from sturdy stone blocks, weathered by years of sea spray, and its roof resembles the upturned hull of a ship, a homage to Valkur’s domain. A large, intricately carved wooden wheel—a symbol of Valkur—is mounted above the main entrance, its spokes adorned with tokens left by sailors seeking the god’s protection.

Inside, the temple is an open space filled with the sound of lapping waves, thanks to a clever system of water channels that flow through its stone floor. The air is thick with the scent of salt and incense, and the walls are lined with murals depicting Valkur’s legendary voyages, battles with sea monsters, and acts of heroism. The central altar is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, carved from driftwood and adorned with shells, coral, and other treasures of the sea.

The temple is also a hub of activity, serving as a shelter for sailors in need, a gathering place for maritime celebrations, and a center for organizing aid during storms or other coastal disasters.
