14. Fenwick's Apothecary

Fenwick’s Apothecary is one of Mosstone’s oldest establishments, with roots tracing back over three generations. Founded by Elias Fenwick, A.K.A. "Old Fenwick", an alchemist and herbalist who originally traveled with merchant caravans, the apothecary became a permanent fixture in Mosstone after Elias discovered the region’s abundant medicinal flora. 

The building itself exudes old-world charm. Its timber frame is overgrown with ivy, and its small-paned windows are filled with jars of colorful herbs and tinctures that catch the sunlight. Inside, the air is rich with the scent of dried flowers, spices, and the faint tang of alchemical reagents. Shelves line the walls, brimming with neatly labeled bottles, dried herbs, and strange ingredients sourced from across the Sword Coast.

Old Fenwick has expanded the shop’s offerings to include remedies for common ailments, enchanted salves, and even potent brews sought after by adventurers. He is known for her kindness and his encyclopedic knowledge of natural remedies, and he often provides free treatments to those who cannot afford her services. Despite his altruism, the apothecary thrives thanks to Old Fenwick’s reputation as the best in the region.

A small workroom at the back of the shop is where the real magic happens. Here, Old Fenwick experiments with new concoctions. Local legends say that Elias Fenwick once crafted a potion that saved the town from a deadly plague...

Fenwick’s Apothecary is also a gathering place for Mosstone’s healers and scholars. High Druidess Cala Moonglow frequently consults with Old Fenwick about rare plants and their properties, and Althea Solnari of The Arcane Distillery occasionally trades magical ingredients for Fenwick’s masterful herbal concoctions. The apothecary stands as a testament to the enduring value of knowledge, tradition, and compassion.
