At night, it can become dark outside. This can make it hard to do certain jobs. So we install, or put up, lights to make it easier to see at night. This artificial light (light created by humans) can help us. But it also can cause light pollution. Light pollution happens when there is too much light at night. This can cause problems for humans, wildlife, and even the Earth's climate. Find out more by visiting the International Dark-Sky Association. Do some research. Create a project. Help the environment! Also, think about this connects to what you learn about different types of energy and even ecosystems!
Check out the official GLOBE at Night website. As the website states, "Globe at Night is an international citizen-science campaign to raise public awareness of the impact of light pollution by inviting citizen-scientists to measure & submit their night sky brightness observations. It's easy to get involved - all you need is computer or smart phone & follow these 5 Simple Steps!"
