Resilience Community Mentors
Note: This is a closed referral pathway. Referrals can only be made through probation. If your client is interested in this program, please have them contact their Probation Officer and request for a referral through the Community Resource Directory (CRD) [An online referral platform that probation uses to assign referrals to programs].
Description
6 month long mentoring program for youth on formal probation. Mentors are adults with lived experience in the justice system themselves, who have engaged in their own healing and transformation. This program encourages youth to make positive choices and changing current mindsets. Convening dates/times: 2x week groups, 1x week individual sessions both virtual and in-person. SAY SD partners with Project Aware and Youth Empowerment for this service. There are also incentives for youth that attend and complete the program. Groups are conducted in person and virtually.

Mentoring
Group Based Mentoring: Twice a week and currently virtual. Groups can be up to 16 youth with 4 mentors. Uses the Forward Thinking Curriculum, an evidence-based practice curriculum that utilizes interactive journaling.
One on One Mentoring: Once a week and in-person. Traditional mentoring (ie: hanging out)
Justice system advocacy
Care coordination.
Eligibility
Only youth and young adults formally referred by their Probation Officer. Ages vary depending on the requesting Probation Officer but youth are usually under 21 years old.
