The Collective
Description
The Collective is a coalition of San Diego LGBTQ+ young adults and community partners interested in preventing tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs from harming the LGBTQ+ community. Their goal is to foster resiliency through healthy spaces, and to build intentional community by harm reduction methods and meeting people where they are at. The Collective believes that systemic social justice issues are intersectional and try to foster that in their work in addressing substance use and cultivating healthy boundaries. Check out one of their sober-curious events!
Get involved by coming to a meeting! They meet virtually every first Thursday of the month at 7pm. Email Collectiveco.sd@gmail.com to sign up for a zoom link and check out our flyer.

Services
We provide space and technical support to our youth and young adult coalition through community LGBTQ+ partners, trainings, guest speakers, and engagement with community leaders.
We invite guest speakers to share their work and then stay and hear about ours. Please reach out if you want to collaborate.
We work on local policy work regarding tobacco retail licensing in the city of San Diego.
We do harm reduction work by providing sober friendly community spaces, Narcan distributions, and other education that focuses on healthy boundaries with substances.
If you need connections to other LGBTQ+ services outside of our group, please reach out and we can connect you with the LGBT Center, Hillcrest Youth Center, South Bay Youth Center, the San Diego Pride Center and their various POC LGBTQ+ coalitions, TransFamily Support Services, PFLAG, GLSEN, and more.
Eligibility
This is a coalition primarily of young adults 18-30 years of age in the LGBTQ+ community, but we have many roles to get involved with. Please do not hesitate to get connected!
Strong Allies are welcome as long as you understand this is a safe space and you have some experience and sensitivity with the LGBTQ+ community.
If you are Questioning, you are welcome. We understand the potential need to be anonymous and reveal information when you are ready to share.
