Mozambique

Sofala / Beira:

Sao Caetano was the first Portuguese fort in Mozambique and was built in the 17th century in Sofala with stones shipped from Portugal. After the trade routes changed, the fort fell into disrepair. Beira's Cathedral 40 miles to the north, was built in the early 20th century from the stone of the old Sao Caetano fort of which today except for some ruins and a few cannon, there is no trace.
