Napoli:  

San Paolo Maggiore

This was the church where San Gaetano was established during the latter part of his life. It was changed radically by the Theatines.

In San Paolo Maggiore the painting of San Gaetano above the altar of the side chapel dedicated to him is of the school of Andrea Vaccaro and was painted in the middle of the 17th century. The marble decoration was done over various phases during the first half of the 17th century. 

Nave above arches: Smaller paintings on the wall above the side arches, show San Gaetano inviting people to adore the Eucharist in the Tabernacle and another in his glory holding the cross.

Another painting at San Paolo M, this time by M.Stanzione, shows Gaetano in the company of a number of Saints.

There are also some frescos of San Gaetano in the church of San Paolo Maggiore.

In this church fixed to the main columns, is a series of bas relief oval medallions showing scenes from San Gaetano's life.

The crypt / sanctuary church of San Gaetano built on the foundations of a Roman temple to an unknown god is annexed to this church. In it lies the tomb with the remains of San Gaetano.

A 'Fresco' painting San Gaetano intercedes to placate God's wrath in this Crypt church is by Francesco Solimena and was done in 1717. The 'Bozzetto' painting for this fresco is 77 X 63 cm, has an 18th century frame and has been recently put up for sale for 30,000 Euros. 

Apart from other works by many artists in this church, there are many paintings done by Andrea Vaccaro depicting the life of San Gaetano.

Right in front of these churches is Piazza San Gaetano in the heart of the old city where once stood first a Greek meeting place and after that a Roman Forum. His statue stands here on a pedestal designed in the 1700s.

Napoli: 

In  vico Cinquesanti, in a small chapel closed behind the bars of a gate, a portrait of San Gaetano da Thiene dominates. It is one of the religious figures that you come across most often in the alleys of Naples.

A bronze statue of San Gaetano is located right at the city's central Piazza Dante on top of the gate called Porta d Alba. In 1625, viceroy Antonio Alvarez of Toledo, duke of Alba, had this gateway built. It was restored in 1797 and was the first connection between the city of Naples and other outside districts.

Napoli - Ischia - Forio:

San Gaetano church founded on the island of Ischia by sailors and fishermen in 1655, rebuilt inside in 1857 in baroque style. Church remained abandoned for long years and remains in great need of structural repairs on the dome and restoration of the interior stucco. This church of San Gaetano is also used by the Evangelical Lutheran church for services.

Padova1:

After dismantling an old church of St.Francis the Less, the Theatines built the existing church of San Gaetano. Opened 1586, consecrated 1588, it has 16 African marble columns with red marble cornices. It is embellished with art from the old demolished church. The ceiling has a fresco depicting heaven and behind the main altar San Gaetano is shown in glory by a 17th century anonymous painter. In 1970 the front of the church was restored as were all the paintings in the church in 1971. Between 1662 and 1762 this Church was deconsecrated but Pope Clement XIII reconsecrated it. In November 2009 this church was inaugurated after restoration of the covered facade and frescoes on the vault and the dome.

Padova2:

Parish Church of San Gaetano da Thiene, better known as the 'Tempio dell Internato Ignoto' (Unknown internee), was built in 1955 by Don Giovanni Fortin, a priest who survived Dachau. Since 1968 it has beside it, a museum which documents the suffering of political and racial deportees in the Nazi concentration camps.

Padova - Borgoricco:

Oratory of San Gaetano whose original facade was built upon. The Oratory is what remains of an older hospital now demolished. Nowadays it is in a bad state of preservation. 

Padova - Ca Morosini:

In the 17th century the Morosini family, from which the town takes its name, had various properties in the Padova area along the Adige river. On one of these, next to their home, they had built an oratory dedicated to San Gaetano Thiene dependent, albeit distant, on the parish of Sant’Urbano for the spiritual assistance of the laborers. The church was elevated to an autonomous parish much later, in February 1944. In June the corner stone of the new parish was blessed. The church is in classical style, with a single nave and four altars.To build it the recycled materials of the ancient abandoned church of Rotta Sabbadina, demolished in those years for civic needs, were used. The building was inaugurated on 21 November 1946, the day of the Madonna della salute. Also for this reason, this devotional recurrence is still particularly celebrated by the small community.

Padova - Cinto Euganeo:

A mountain chapel dedicated to San Gaetano with an excellent view which used to be frequented by students before their exams. This small chapel of nowadays forms part of a farmhouse. 

Padova - Este:

Church of St.Martin: A marble altar of San Gaetano from 1711 surmounted with a canvas by Antonio Zanchi. This painting, ruined in 1981, used to show Our Lady giving a belt to San Gaetano and to St.Anthony. Below these, added on by another painter, there used to appear half the bust of St.Philip Neri. 

Padova - Monselice:

In the church of San Martino di Monselice a set of paintings was lately restored. One includes the Madonna, St Oswald and San Gaetano.

Padova - Pionca di Vigonza:

Oratory of San Gaetano built at the end of 1600s into the 1700s, it is annexed to a palace. The oratory was renovated in 1758 and in 1927 became property of the parish. The oratory is well proportioned, has a belfry and is surmounted by three statues on its facade. In the oratory there is a painting of the Venetian school of the eighteenth century depicting the Madonna with the Child Jesus, San Gaetano Thiene and St. Anthony of Padova.

Padova - Pozzonovo:

In the grounds of Villa Capolcastro Centanini, there was a rundown oratory called Cappella Gentilizia dedicated to San Gaetano. In 2015 after its restoration inside and out, it was inaugurated and opened to the public.

Palermo1:

Theatine church of St.Joseph: In a niche over the entrance is a marble statue of San Gaetano who has a foot over the devil symbol of protestant teaching.

An altar dedicated to our Saint on the left transept with a huge canvas showing him being taken into heaven by cherubs and angels, the work of Pietro Novelli. On top of this rich marble altar is carved 'Father and Patron'.

Palermo2:

Previously in the Church of Sta.Maria della Catena and now kept in the Diocesan Museum is a 1647 canvas of San Gaetano by Pietro Novelli. 

Palermo3:

In University street, one can see a votive shrine with a painting of San Gaetano. This shrine dates back from 1898. 

Palermo - Brancaccio: 

Parish church of San Gaetano / Maria SS del Divino Amore: Inside is a recently restored statue of San Gaetano done by G.Pennino in the 1730s . The Pastor Don Pino Puglisi was murdered in the church by the Mafia in September 1993. A beautiful statue of the Saint is carried in procession on his feast day. 

Outside lies a stone statue of San Gaetano on a base surrounded by railings. 

Palermo - Caltavuturo:

A small church of San Gaetano which is scheduled for restoration and identification with a plaque.

Palermo - Castronuovo:

At a church in Castronuovo, San Gaetano appears at the feet of Mary with the Baby Jesus. Also San Andrea Avellino.

Palermo - Gangi:

The parish church of Gangi contains prized pieces such as wooden sculptures from the 18th century attributed to Filippo Quattrocchi, among which is a San Gaetano. 

Palermo - Misilmeri:

Parish Church of San Gaetano. Built at the beginning of the 18th century by Nicolo Scodelli, the church took the place of an older one dedicated to the Madonna del Fiume. In 1783 it was already closed due to a bad state of repair, but four years later it was rebuilt, passing over to the Carmelite order in 1820 and so it remained until 1866. In an 1836 inventory, there existed a canvas of San Gaetano and also a statue of the Saint. Nowadays only the canvas is still in existence. The local council financed some restoration work around 1891 and some 50 years after that some more restoration was done due to bomb damage from WWII. It was only in 1953 that it became a Parish church. 

Palermo - Monreale:

San Gaetano church declared a Heritage building after being lately restored. It now contains a Museum of Religious artifacts. 

Palermo - Pollina

In this mountain village stands a church dedicated to San Gaetano in a street of the same name. This church was built by the family Macaluso in the 18th century. Many of the frescos on the walls have succumbed to time. The building, deconsecrated and closed since 1950, was restored lately and is going to be opened as an ethnological museum for the public.

Parma1:

Theatine Church of Sta.Christina: Various episodes in the life of San Gaetano are revealed in the front and sides on frescos painted by F.Galletti in 1661-62. The first shows the Saint at point of death near the Blessed Virgin; the second San Gaetano opening his tunic as symbol of ardent love; the third shows him receiving Baby Jesus from Mary, and the fourth, the Redeemer shows him His pierced side while angels carry symbols of the Passion. In this church there is also a canvas of San Gaetano in front of the Blessed Trinity, by Giovanni Venanzi in 1661. In this same church on one of the corner spaces by the windows, San Gaetano is shown with his group, receiving the constitution of his new order from the Pope.

Oratory of the Assumption of Mary also commonly known as San Gaetano, was built in 1572 and completely rebuilt in 1720 by the local congregation.

In the church of St Luke, a chapel nowadays dedicated to San Gaetano is very ornate and contains a wooden statue of our Saint  holding Baby Jesus on a red cloth while a crown rests on the ground at his feet. This is the work Luigi Bianchi created in 1897. A stone statue of Pope St Pius I on top of the ornamentation, belies the previous dedication.

Perugia-Assisi: 

Madonna and Child with saints ca. 1674 on the altar of San Gaetano at the San Rufino Cathedral. This altarpiece was commissioned after the canonisation in 1671.  The newly-canonised saint is depicted on the right, meditating upon a vision of the Madonna and Child in glory, in which the Madonna sends angels to crown the murdered St Peter Martyr.  The altarpiece is attributed to Francesco Refini. 

Perugia - Citta di Castello:

A side altar dedicated to San Gaetano from the 19th century with the oil on canvas painting showing him praying in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament.

Piacenza - Bobbio2:

A little further from the moat of Castello Cerreto Landi is a private oratory of San Gaetano open to the public. This building is first mentioned in the 16th century but seems older. Inside are some beautiful neoclassical frescos.

Pisa - Capannoli (San Pietro Belvedere):

In the church of St Peter Apostle, from the second part of the 17th century, we can find a painting of our Saint reclining on a cloud surrounded by puttini and holding an open book.

Pistoia1:

Church of St.Paul: A student of Luca Giordano, Paolo de Matteis picture of Christ in glory and San Gaetano  done in 1682.

Adjoining the church of St Paul, on the left side is an oratory dedicated to San Gaetano, reputed to be designed by Bernini in the 1600s.

In a main road, an oratory of San Gaetano is now being used as a cultural centre.

Oratory of San Gaetano commonly known as Oratory of the Blessed Sacrament. Lately restored including San Gaetano altar and statue in it. 

Pordenone - San Vito al Tagliamento:

Built by the Altansi family in the 15th century, this Chapel dedicated to San Gaetano is built adjacent to Tullio Altan Palace. On the plan of architect Rota, the small church is of octagonal shape and nowadays houses the Provincial Museum of Country Life. It was originally intended as a private chapel for the family. The facade is made up of 4 panels supporting a cornice with the date 1825 and over the door the coat-of-arms of the family Altan.

Potenza - Acerenza:

Chapel of San Gaetano close to downtown. San Gaetano stayed here awhile after a long pilgrimage. His wooden statue is kept high up in a niche behind the main altar. The chapel has the original main nave from the 1600's while the sacristy was incorporated in the main church as a presbitery in the 1960's. There is also a beautiful wooden ceiling in this church. On the facade of this Chapel right over the entrance, there is a tiled picture of the Saint holding the Infant Jesus. 

Potenza - Genzano:

In the Palazzo Jacobini one can see Antonio Binachini’s painting which shows Saints. Camillo de Lellis and Gaetano with Baby Jesus who is crowning Sta Lucia. This painting is from 1849. 

Potenza - Melfi1: 

A painting in oil on canvas attributed to Andrea Miglionico from the 18th century. It shows San Gaetano in heaven pleading with Christ for people suffering below.

Potenza - Melfi2:

A statue of San Gaetano in sculptured wood from the 19th century which was originally dressed up like a mannequin.

A small old chapel of San Gaetano incorporated within the grounds of a larger and modern church. A beautiful prayer garden was also added in front. In the modern church a round fresco showing San Gaetano was installed above the altar. 

Potenza - Trivigno:

Small mountain Church of San Gaetano built in 1701 and restored by locals. Inside is a canvas by Battista Piccoli of 1703 showing San Gaetano preaching to a group of Theatines. The feast of the Saint is celebrated here every year. Acommittee decided to dedicate the newly restored fresco outside the San Gaetano church of Trivigno to the late Francesco Bonazzi who spent so much energy on the restoration of the church itself.

Prato1:

Stefano Neri painted this oil on canvas work in 1766. He depicts San Gaetano kneeling and in front of him an open book and lilies. The Sait’s chest is exposed while his winged heart flies away towards aChrist’s Cross above. 3 putti are watching on.

Prato2:
