In the sanctuary church of Our Lady of the angels is a painting by artist Nicola Antonio Monti showing Saints Lucy, Gaetano and Apollonia looking up towards the Holy Child on a cloud.

Civic Museum San Rocco: A bas relief of the Madonna with Baby Jesus, San Gaetano and St Philip Neri. This devotional majolica piece made of painted terracotta is from the 1700's and is 33.3 X 53.5cm

Apart from the procession with the statue of the Saint, for the festivities of August, coinciding with the celebration of the feast of San Gaetano, a particular manifestation of the 'Sagra della nacatula' (nacatula is a typical Calabrese sweet).

Reggio Calabria - Melia di Scilla:

In 1845 a church of SanGaetano was built but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1894. Two years after, a new one was erected and was consecrated. On the 3rd June 1907 it was raised to the status of a Parish church. Sadly, only a year afterwards, the church was destroyed again by another earthquake this time with precious works of art and documents being also lost in the rubble.

The new temple we have nowadays has one nave and a belfry containing two bells.

Reggio Calabria - Taverna:

A painting by Mattia Preti located at the church of Sta Barbara in Taverna, depicts Our Lady holding the Child Jesus and with Saints Gaetano and Francesco di Paola one on each side. This canvas is 233 × 160cm and was painted between 1630 and 1699. 

Reggio Emilia - Albinea - Fola:

Parish church of San Gaetano. In 1973 the new church dedicated to St. Cajetan of Thiene was inaugurated. The idea of Don Alberto Ugoletti built by Don Giuseppe Bassissi, this church solved the desire of the inhabitants of Fola. Meanwhile enlarged over time and becoming part of Albinea, it brought more convenience to the Sunday Mass and other religious celebrations. The inhabitants of Fola had in fact  to go other churches in Albinea. The project architect was Enea Manfredini who designed it as a single space with a small side chapel. 

Rieti - Poggio Mirteto1:

In the parish church of the Assumption of Our Lady, San Gaetano has such prominence that his feast is celebrated there in a grand style. He is also the patron Saint of the town. The second chapel in the church is dedicated to him and has an altarpiece showing him with the Blessed Trinity and Francis Xavier. 

Rieti - Poggio Mirteto2:

An oil on canvas ceiling panel dated painted by artist Metello Helzel in 1931. It depicts the mercy of San Gaetano who is on top of a flight of stairs trying to persuade the hordes from invading Rome.

Rieti - Poggio Mirteto3:

A statue of San Gaetano holding Baby Jesus from 1988-9. This statue was made in Spain in fibreglass.

Rieti - Poggio Mirteto4:

In this painting our Saint is shown kneeling in front of an altar and holding Baby Jesus surrounded by angels. Below left is an angel holding a book.

Rieti - Scurelle:

The church dedicated to St. Cajetan of Thiene in Scurelle has a south-west orientation. It was built at the behest of the noble Francesco Bonaventura Antonio Buffa as a family chapel in 1711. The simple narrow rectangular façade, tight between two houses is surmounted by a large window. Inside, the nave and the chancel, raised on a step, are covered by cross vaults. Gable roof in brick tiles and a small belfry at the top of the facade with a pyramidal metal cover. It has wooden flooring in the nave and terracotta floor tiles in the sanctuary. The walls are finished in painted plaster. 

Rimini1:

A painting of San Gaetano of Thiene depicted in profile wearing monastic robes and holding Baby Jesus. This is one of a pair, the other one being of San Antonio Abbate, both exhibited in the museum of the city of Rimini.

Rimini2:

An oil on canvas painting from the second half of the 19th century by artist Agostino Boldrini. It shows Mar and Joseph with San Gaetano kneeling and holding the Holy Child, also a few putti are hovering above.

Rimini - Santarcangelo di Romagna:

Collegiate church: First altar on the left is dedicated to San Gaetano and the painting is by Centino.

Roma1:

Basilica of Sta.Maria Maggiore: In the crypt beneath the Blessed Sacrament Chapel: Marble statue of San Gaetano holding the Child Jesus. This is the work of Bernini and is sited close to where the vision of San Gaetano actually took place

Roma2:

In San Silvestro al Quirinale Church there is a long, vaulted choir behind the altar. On the ceiling is a fresco from the late 16th century by Cherubino and Giovanni Alberti. On the left wall is a fresco by Lazzaro Baldi, of Mary and San Gaetano. Also, in the right arm of the transept is a depiction of The Eternal Appearing to Sts.Andrew Avellino and Gaetano Thiene, by Antonio Barbalonga. Also a painting by a student of Domenichino showing San Gaetano on a crusade.

Roma3:

Sant Andrea della Valle church: Outside on the beautiful facade, a statue of San Gaetano sculpted by Domenico Guidi. Inside a chapel dedicated to San Gaetano with its altar made by C. Bazzani in 1912. Canvas on this altar shows the Saint's Vision. 

In the same church another painting of San Gaetano's vision, this time by an anonymous hand. Also outside, a statue of the Saint in a niche. Also a set of beautiful stuccos.

Roma4:

Parish created in 1962 and the parish church of San Gaetano built in Via Poggio Martino in 1979 and entrusted to the Theatines. 

Roma5:

In the church of Sta.Dorotea in Rome, San Gaetano used to meet with his friends including Carafa. It was here that the seeds of the future Theatine Order were sown. Here too, later on, San Giuseppe Calasanzio started a free school, the first one in Europe. An oil painting in this church by Giovacchino Martorana of Palermo done in the 18th century, shows San Gaetano appearing to San Giuseppe Calasanzio.

Roma6:

In the minor Basilica of Santa Maria Nuova, an oil on canvas painting is being restored. Painted around the end of the 17th century by Andrea Montalto, it is unusual in whom it portrays. It is St.Anne and her husband St.Gioachim who are presenting their young Daughter Mary to San Gaetano.

In the church of St Francis, a canvas by Lapis, showing Our Lady of Snows and San Gaetano. 

Roma8:

In the Galleria Spada, a painting by Lazzaro Baldi (1624-1703) San Gaetano da Thiene writing the Rule of the Theatine Order. 

Roma9:

In Santa Maria sopra Minerva church of Rome, in the Altieri Chapel, the one next to the tomb of Pope Paul IV, there is a painting by Carlos Maratta depicting five Saints, among which is San Gaetano. This church is built on the ruins of a Roman temple to the godess Minerva close to the Colosseo.

Roma - Ardea:

Parish church of San Gaetano. Construction of the new parish church for the Nuova Florida Ardea neighborhood for an estimated population of 10,000, started in 2015 and was finished in a short two year span. It stands on public land which is an protected green space of cork oak forest.

Roma - Mentana:

In the Church of San Nicola Nuovo, a painting of San Gaetano holding Baby Jesus, by Vincenzo Ferreri done in 1793. 

Roma - Morlupo:

In the adjacent Theatine convent, there is a Chapel dedicated to the Saint. In this same convent there is a Painting of San Gaetano in the glory of heaven while outside in the convent grounds one can find a permanent outdoor statue of the Saint. 

Roma - Rocca di Papa:

Duomo of the Assumption of Mary: A 17th century canvas by Luigi Gerzi representing the Immaculate Conception of Mary, with St.Anthony abbot, San Gaetano, Sant Agatha and Sant Appolonia. This painting was brought from a small hospital which used to stand nearby.

At The Pinacoteca dell'Accademia dei Concordi one can find a painting of San Gaetano da Thiene, by Giambattista Piazzetta.

Rovigo - Ariano nel Polesine:

The church of San Gaetano is near the western access to the town. Festivities lasting two weeks are held around the 7th August in honour of the patron San Gaetano.

Rovigo - Fienil del turco:

On a wall in this village there is a sort of painted niche with a bas relief of San Gaetano explaining to a child about heaven.

In the church of Santa Sofia, the Painting by Agostino Ugolini, dated 1787, is set on the gateway to the chapel of San Lorenzo and shows Our Lady and Child in glory and the Saints Andrew Avellino, Gaetano Thiene and Valentino. It comes from the former church of St. Agatha and was commissioned by the Benedictine nuns.

Rovigo - Melara:

Archipresbeterial church of San Materno Bishop: Oil on canvas painting 298 X 202cm by Saverio Della Rosa 1783. The picture shows Our Lady with Baby Jesus and the Saints Materno, Philip Neri and Gaetano da Thiene.

Rovigo - Occhiobello:

Traditional outdoor festivities of San Gaetano celebrated with food and music, with fireworks ending the evening. Inside the oratory of San Gaetano a special liturgy with the participation of a choral group.

Rovigo - Polesella:

'San Ghitan' Feast - 7th August. Traditional celebration near the Oratory of San Gaetano, along the street of the same name, with folklore and various festivities. Built in the first half of the 17th century, the oratory was in use up to three decades ago. Covered with a tile roof, it looks East and has a small bell tower on its Left side. For a while this church stood abandoned and bare.

Rovigo - Porto Viro:

A tiny votive oratory of San Gaetano with its own tiny belfry.

Salerno - Acerno1:

Statue of San Gaetano with Baby Jesus in his arms. This was made of terracotta in the second half of the 19th century.

Salerno - Acerno2:

Statue of San Gaetano with the Child Jesus and dressed up in cassock, surplice and stole. Made in sculptured painted wood in the second half of the 18th century.

Salerno - Acerno3:

Salerno - Angri:

Incorporated in the seventeenth century Palazzo de Angelis, the chapel of St. Jude Thaddeus was the right of patronage of this noble family, up to the 800. In this chapel there is an altarpiece done by Carl Rosa in the 17th century, showing The Virgin between St Jude and San Gaetano. 

Salerno - Centola:

An appeal to the locals for funds to reconstruct the old church of San Gaetano in the area of San Nicola.

Salerno - Conca dei Marini:

In the church of St Anthony of Padova an altar on the right is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, St Anthony and San Gaetano.

Salerno - Galdo:

San Gaetano church. On the 7th August, the feast of San Gaetano, a beautiful statue of the Saint holding Baby Jesus is taken out in procession.

Salerno - La Mennola:

A new parish of San Gaetano, formed in 1962 out of the communities of St.Mary of Carmel, St.John Bosco, St.Mary of Barbuti and St.Bartholomew. Parish church and Convent of San Gaetano.

Salerno - Monte San Giacomo:

Church of San Gaetano Interesting the canvas of the eighteenth century, depicting the Virgin and St. Gaetano and Child, a work close to the style of the painter Nicholas Peccheneda from Pola, who attended the workshop of Solimena.

Salerno - Penta di Fischiano:

Oil on canvas painting showing San Gaetano during his vision. This work of art from the first half of the 17th century resides on a side altar in the church of San Bartolomeo and was somehow ruined, leaving only the part with Our Lady, Baby Jesus and San Gaetano in place.

Salerno - Salento:

Salerno - San Giovanni a Piro:

Cruciform church built 1660s outside city walls. In 1786, altar of San Gaetano is erected by the people. Only in 1888 is the church definitively dedicated to San Gaetano Thiene. Main entry built in 1813, also a smaller side door. Titular painting by DAngelo done in 1979, shows San Gaetano kneeling in front of the Blessed Sacrament. The belfry which used to be in very bad condition was restored and is reached from inside the church.

The statue of the Saint which has an important place in a niche over the main altar, was restored lately. 

Salerno - Santomenna:

In 1682, the palace of the Bishop was restored and a new Cathedral dedicated to San Gaetano was built. In 1980 an earthquake destroyed the old church and a new one was built. 

Salerno - Sassano - Caiazzano:

Chapel of St.Vitus and San Gaetano. First mention of this chapel in existing documents was in 1756. 

Salerno - Teggiano:

A statue of San Gaetano holding Baby Jesus, sculptured out of wood and painted in the 19th century.

Salerno - Vallo Della Lucania:

An oil on canvas painting by the Polish artist Krzysrtof Cudo of San Gaetano in glory dated 2001.

Siena:

Contrada del Nicchio (Contrada = District) named after San Gaetano and with headquarters at the Oratory of San Gaetano. This Oratory, built 1683/5 through the efforts of the Contrada del Nicchio, boasts of a huge stucco niche in its facade. The painting in this niche shows Our Lady with Child Jesus and behind her on each side are St Francis and San Gaetano. Inside are two canvases by Giuseppe Nicola Nasini: on the right, San Gaetano bringing bread to some lepers and on the left bringing bread to the poor (1734). In the right presbitery altar a canvas depicting a miracle performed by San Gaetano, and left is San Gaetano in ecstasy, both of the 17th century. Topping the titular picture on the main altar is the persecution of San Gaetano during the sacking of Rome. In this church there is another painting by Nasini, this time of the glory of San Gaetano. In 2014, the Contrada of Nicchio came in possession of a relic relating to San Gaetano Thiene and it seemed logical to equip a suitable container to make it visible in a worthy manner. The artist Carlo Pizzichini built a gold glazed ceramic reliquary and sealed it within. 

Siena

In the Siena Cathedral in a painting by Domenico Maria Canuti, San Gaetano is shown in the presence of Our Lady in glory. He is receiving Baby Jesus handed to him by St Joseph.

Siena - Chianciano Terme:

Museum of the Collegiate: Canvas depicting the Vision of San Gaetano, dubiously attributed to Astolfo Petrazzi, active in the 17th century. Size 212x150cm. 

Siena - Montalcino:

San Gaetano is shown with crossed arms over his chest praying in this oil on canvas painting from the second half of the 17th century.

Siena - Montisi:

In pieve della Santissima Annunziata an oil on canvas painting of San Gaetano during his vision. Here Baby Jesus is in His Mother’s arms and holding a spray of lilies. This work by Francesco Nasini was executed in the first half of the 18th century.

Siracusa1:

A stained glass window panel showing San Gaetano in black with a pot of lilies in front of him. Artist Alessandro Grassi dated 1973.

Siracusa2:

An oil on canvas painting of San Gaetano being given Baby Jesus to hold by Our Lady. This is the work of Paolo Tanasi dated 1832.

Siracusa - Avola:

In the church of St John Baptist there is a side altar complete with a painting showing San Gaetano in his vision of Our Lady and Baby Jesus.

Siracusa - Portopalo di Capopassero:

(This happens to be the closest landfall to my native Malta)

Parish Church of Patron San Gaetano. The old 1812 supermarket was turned into a church in 1927 / 31 being embellished over the years. Very recently a fire broke out in this church destroying artifacts and decoration but not the structure itself.

Siracusa - Sortino:

Church dedicated to St.John the Evangelist: Sixteenth century painting by Giuseppe Cristadoro depicting the Virgin and San Gaetano.

In the church of Santa Maria Annunziata of Sortino, one can find  an altarpiece of the Vision of San Gaetano.

Sondrio - Ambria:

Mountain Chapel of San Gaetano.

Sondrio - Dalico:

A little chapel of San Gaetano built in 1870 as is shown on an inscription on its facade. This small rectangular church was renovated inside and out in 1975. In its small belfry it has a bell with the name of St.Gregory in German. Behind the main altar is a niche containing the statue of San Gaetano.

Spezia - Sarzana1:

Painting in oils on canvas of San Gaetano kneeling and meditating on a crucifix in his arms and surrounded by angels and putti. Work done in the first half of the 19th century.

Spezia - Sarzana2:

A statue of plaster in a niche from mid 18th century. It shows San Gaetano with one hand holding a book and the other one raised as if preaching.

Spezia - Sarzana3:

A wooden sculptured statue of San Gaetano in a niche showing him with a raised hand and a book in the other. Work done in the first half of the 19th century.
