Ariano FolkFestival has signed a cooperation agreement with Region Campania under the name of GEDI (Great Events in Irpinia). Its goal is to develop an integrated project of tourist promotion within the Irpinian territory exploiting the attraction capacity that these events have demonstrated to have during many years.
Ariano FolkFestival is a ethno-cultural project initiated by the initiative of a group of young friends which were used to meet in a small country-side bar. At the beginning it was a beer festival, but year after year has become a true Music Festival devoted to World Music. During less then 10 years the Festival has brought to its stages the best of world, folk and gypsy music of the world, becoming, among the events dedicated to this music variety, a reference point in Europe and the countries of the Mediterranean Sea. Since always the Festival is independent: it lives, in fact, from the voluntary contribution of businessman from the area and outside it.
The main stage of the Festival where every evening the invited bands have their shows. The FolkStage has been moved from its historical location in “Via Tranesi” to “Piazza della Croce” due to the need of hosting a growing number of people insuring security for all. Every year, Ariano FolkFestival has been enriched with more initiatives such as cinema, international gastronomy, craftsmanship, transforming Ariano Irpino in a place where different peoples and cultures meet, thus stressing the traditional hospitality of the town.
It is the green area in the heart of the town used as camping for young guests of the Festival which are given the opportunity to camp for few euros during the days of the Festival.
Ariano FolkFestival completes its cultural offer with a series of movies that are usually showed at the municipality auditorium. Every year the proposed movies face items related to the regional culture, music and popular traditions.
It’s the official press body of the Ariano FolkFestival. It’s the free daily newspaper published during all the Festival.
It is an area thought for the indefatigable party people. Those that after four hours concert are ready for a new music session that ends with the first light of the day. SonaZone is a Festival within the Festival mostly dedicated to lovers of electronic music.
Even rural tourism, discovery and promotion of the regional territory has its space within Ariano FolkFestival. Day-trippers, nature and history lovers have a bus at their disposal to take them to the hidden but striking corners of our land and try the ancient specialities of our typical southern Italian cuisine.
